Commented drummer TigerThe process of making this record was quite intense. I kind of went through my inner hell. Working all day, you’re fine but at night all these things were torturing me. The new songs are crazy and absurd sometimes, but also serious and very personal. It’s the ambiguity that holds ‘Rough Times‘ together. Every song evolved from a certain strong feeling. REVIEW: CELLAR DARLING – “This Is The Sound” [Official Videos]

New born trio CELLAR DARLING is a new found force in the folk rock/metal category already creating major ripples on the scene with their debut masterpiece, ‘This Is The Sound‘. After pulling the plug on their previous band ELUVEITIE almost a year ago, the Swiss trio of Ivo Henzi, Anna Murphy and Merlin Sutter quickly huddled together to form CELLAR DARLING, with a goal of driving themselves in a new direction as they wanted to try out something new and different from what they were already doing. Fast forward a year, and here we are with their debut release titled, ‘This Is The Sound‘, arguably one of the best albums already this year.

Slated for a June 30th, 2017 out via Nuclear Blast Records, let me tell oh boy what a beautiful and enchanting album this has been. I am already in love with the record and this awesome band! Continue reading

Into The Grave Spotlight: TEXTURES

Textures is one of the bands that will be playing on Into The Grave this year on the second day, the 12th of August. On that day they will be playing alongside the kings of vikings Amon Amarth and bands like Arch Enemy, Overkill, Life Of Agony, Whitechapel, Sodom, Pro-Pain and metalcore act Ember Falls. As you can see it will be a busy day with a bunch of bands with completely different styles and vibes. Yet I think this day will the best of the 2. It will be the darker and more brutal day of the festival for sure! As I have mentioned before in my spotlight about my all time favorite powermetal band Powerwolf (which you can read HERE) the festival will be super diverse and full of bands with different backgrounds and music styles. Hopefully see you there!

TESTAMENT Join Hands w/ ANNIHILATOR And DEATH ANGEL For European Headline Tour 2017

TESTAMENT

What a sick tour this looks like! All three thrash metal giants having started way back in the 1980s and still going undeterred to this day now come together for a killer European tour later this year. This tour is going to feature TESTAMENT as the headliner as they keep on going ahead on their tour cycle supporting their latest album,’Brotherhood Of The Snake‘, which saw a successful release last year in October. Receiving top notch reviews and faring well in the charts of many countries, TESTAMENT look forward to spreading the brotherhood wide across Europe with fellow thrashers ANNIHILATOR and DEATH ANGEL. Canadian thrashers ANNIHILATOR last released their record back in 2015, ‘Suicide Society‘ but they have been in the studio lately and are planning to release their new album this year later in October as per frontman Jeff Waters. DEATH ANGEL will also be supporting their new album, ‘The Evil Divide‘ which was out last year itself too. So get those battle jackets ready and get ready to thrash out to this epic tour. Chicago Open Air Spotlight: SUICIDE SILENCE

*Every Tuesday and Thursday from now until Chicago Open Air gets here we will be releasing an article about a band playing the festival to get you familiar with them.*

Today’s artist is Suicide Silence.

On Friday, July 16th, deathcore legends Suicide Silence will be taking the stage at Chicago Open Air for their third Danny Wimmer Presents festival. They previously played Aftershock last October along with several other acts that day like Korn, Puscifer, Whitechapel, and more. They also just recently played Rock on the Range with Metallica, The Dillinger Escape Plan, and Amon Amarth. The band formed in 2002 in Riverside, California in 2002 and released their first full length album in 2007 titled ‘The Cleansing’. The record sold extremely well for a debut and showed that the band would be very successful in the future. “Unanswered” and “No Pity For A Coward” grew to be fan favorites. ‘No Time To Bleed’ followed this record in 2009. Songs like “Wake Up” and “Disengage” have become staples in Suicide Silence‘s live sets. In 2011, the band released their final record, ‘The Black Crown’, on Century Media and also their final record with frontman Mitch Lucker. Lucker passed away in 2012 after sustaining injuries in a motorcycle accident. It was announced a year later that the band would continue with a new vocalist. Continue reading

International Day of Slayer, the annual heavy metal holiday that celebrates the uncompromising, loud and defiant music of the iconic thrash/punk/metal band SLAYER, is celebrating its 12th year today, 6/6/17.  IDoS is the day where you stage a “Slay-out, Slay-in, Slay-on, Slay-off” – don’t go to school, don’t go to work – but spend the day listening to Slayer at nuclear blast level in your car, your home, or in the public place of your choice. True Slayer devotees do NOT use headphones but crank the sound up as loud as possible so that everyone within earshot can hear SLAYER.

To celebrate this year’s IDoS, SiriusXM‘s Liquid Metal (Ch. 40) is playing SLAYER every hour from 12 Midnight ET 6/6 through to 3AM ET 6/7, and the channel’s Jose Mangin will be airing interviews with the band members.  SiriusXM is also hosting a special contest where one winner + a guest will receive round trip air transportation to Las Vegas for SLAYER‘s August 4 show, plus two nights at a Vegas hotel, two tickets to the show, a meet’n’greet with members of SLAYER and $200 ground transportation.  But this prize package just gets better:  the winner will also score his or her very own Tom Araya Signature Bass TA-204 FRX model, PLUS the brand new Kerry King B.C. Rich signature guitar, the KKW30 model, which is not yet available in stores. Mangin will be on hand in Las Vegas as the winner’s personal host/escort.
