Cold fans had a wonderful surprise Thursday night (August 29th) when the band kicked off their Broken Human Tour in Teaneck, New Jersey at Debonair Music Hall. The tour; their first in 8 years is in support of the bands sixth studio album ‘The Things We Can’t Stop’ set to release September 13 via Napalm Records. On January 14, 2018 Cold announced that drummer and one of the founding members of the band Sam McCandless would not be joining the band on the new album or tour to pursue other commitments and to work on his other band The Cocky Bitches. Sam is beloved by fans and is an integral part of the band, not to mention he is a tremendously talents drummer that puts on an amazing show. Sam was Stepping in to fill some big shoes was drummer Ethan York. Ethan has spent the last year or so with the band. Fans were shocked when they arrived for the first date of the bands current tour to see none other than Sam McCandless with the band. Some initially thought he may just be there to see the show and support the band, but when the lights turned down and the band made their way to the stage Sam made his way to his throne behind the drum kit. Alien Weaponry On Hanging With Al Jourgensen “That Was A Real Life Changing Experience” [Video]

Alien Weaponry brings their immense sound from New Zealand to America and there is no looking back now. Brothers Henry and Lewis de Jong formed the band back in 2010 before they were even teenagers. The third member is Ethan Trembath. The trio bases a lot of their lyrics off of their Māori ancestry, which all three of them have. Most of their songs are also performed in the native language, te reo Māori. The band really took off last year and saw international success with the release of their debut album, ‘Tū’ via Napalm Records. The band received millions of streams within weeks and had their songs added to several popular playlists on Spotify. Soon, Sirius XM Liquid Metal turned their attention to them and their song “Kai Tangata” eventually made its way up to number on their weekly top song countdown, “The Devil’s Dozen”. You can check out the epic music video for it below along with another song below it. I’ve always enjoyed listening to bands that sing in other languages and these guys are no exception. I loved the comparison that Revolver made in their article about the band comparing them to Sepultura. It is honestly the best comparison I’ve seen for the band so far. This won’t be the first time that the band has been over here as they have appeared on Liquid Metal before with Jose Mangin hosting them. Following that, they went on a tour throughout North America with Ministry and Carpenter Brut. I heard from many people that the trio absolutely blew them away. Continue reading

Review: CANDLEMASS – ‘The Door to Doom’ [Track Stream]

Candlemass are one of the most important names in Doom Metal. Along with Saint Vitus, Trouble, and The Obsessed they all helped create a form of music that was heavily influenced by the forefathers of Doom and Gloom: Black Sabbath! From their 1986 debut classic ‘Epicus Doomicus Metallicus’ to the 2018 ep ‘The House of Doom’ Candlemass have been one of the hardest working and most consistent bands in the Metal scene. However, with the upcoming release of ‘The Door to Doom’ (available February 22nd via Napalm Records) the band have managed to top past glories and have (arguably) released the best album of their long career! JOHN GARCIA Returns With ‘John Garcia And The Band Of Gold’

Desert rock legend John Garcia is back with and he brought some sand-covered riffs for your ears. Garcia is a founding member and former vocalist of the now disbanded Kyuss. Since their split Garcia has not stopped working on project after project, often bringing on old bandmates like Scott Reeder and Brant Bjork. After forming Slo Burn, Unida, and Vista Chino Garcia released two solo albums. Some of these included original material or different takes on old Kyuss tunes. Since his last recording, The Coyote Who Spoke in Tongues, John Garcia and the band have found a new energy that is palpable from the first note.

John Garcia And The Band Of Gold begins with the introductory track, “Space Vato”. As tiring as introduction tracks have become, this ramped up an energy that prepared you for the coming tide of the album. Garcia’s identifiable and unique voice is as strong as ever. With the small bite-sized tracks the album does not exhaust or lose momentum; One track moves on to the next without one staying for too long. Tracks like “Chicken Delight” and “Popcorn (Hit Me When You Can)” are groovy tracks rooted in old acid rock with modern aggression and style to them. “Lilliana” is riff powered desert rock, something that can only be born from sand. My favorite track on the record “Apache Junction” is pure Sabbath-worship that channels the energy of a song like “Hand of Doom”. After spending a day in the desert, you sit and stare at the stars with “Softer Side”. This ends the album on a soft and euphoric note.

John Garcia And the Band Of Gold is out via Napalm Records  January 4 with a European tour happening shortly after its release (dates below). To keep up with John Garcia and his band, follow them on Facebook and Twitter.
