Into The Grave Spotlight: TEXTURES

Textures is one of the bands that will be playing on Into The Grave this year on the second day, the 12th of August. On that day they will be playing alongside the kings of vikings Amon Amarth and bands like Arch Enemy, Overkill, Life Of Agony, Whitechapel, Sodom, Pro-Pain and metalcore act Ember Falls. As you can see it will be a busy day with a bunch of bands with completely different styles and vibes. Yet I think this day will the best of the 2. It will be the darker and more brutal day of the festival for sure! As I have mentioned before in my spotlight about my all time favorite powermetal band Powerwolf (which you can read HERE) the festival will be super diverse and full of bands with different backgrounds and music styles. Hopefully see you there!

Review: AETHERE – ‘Adrift’ [Full Album Stream]

Black metal band Aethere has been under the radar for quite some time but their latest album ‘Adrift’ is going to make a change to that. They formed in 2009 when drummer Josh Slater and former guitarist Garrett Wasson started playing together and recorded a demo with 3 songs on it. Aethere has not been sitting still, they have been touring a lot. If you are from Northern Carolina and you attent local shows you may have already seen this masterpiece of a band perform live. After this they began making new music such as their debut album ‘Wave Existence’. The track ”Oblivion” got released and got 20.000 views just under a month from it’s release date. This album got followed up by the EP ‘Demons’ (2012) that got produced by Bob Swanson. After creating new music the band decided to tour again and play at the local shows. Some time after they decided to release the EP ‘Past And Present’ that got released in 2014. After playing on huge death metal festivals with bands such as Cattle Decapitation, Psycroptic and Fallujah the band finally got the attention it deserved. People started to discover the band and noticed the wide varied of influences Aethere has. This year, 28th of April they came back to release yet another great album called ‘Adrift’ via Tragic Hero Records.

Review: MISS MAY I – ‘Shadows Inside’ [Official Videos]

Miss May I is a band everyone has heard of one way or another, they are almost impossible to miss out on. This soul touching metalcore band formed in 2007 and are from Ohio, America. They are mostly known for their powerful release ‘Vows For A Massacre’, this is an EP that features the song ”Apologies Are For The Weak” which got the band a spot on Rise Records. This song has also been included in the famous video game Saints Row: The Third! ‘Monument’ from the year 2010 is their debut album, this album peaked at 10 on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart. Besides that they have released 4 albums including their newest one ‘Shadows Inside’ which will get released tomorrow via SharpTone Records! The 2th of June to be exact. Review: FIRE FROM THE GODS – ‘Narrative Retold’

Unlike any other band in recent memory, Fire From The Gods have springboarded onto the music scene with recognition all around the metal community. The quintet’s combination of rap, hardcore, and metalcore brews a familiar but original sound. From Austin, TX, the band has set out to bring a bigger, more important message to metal that they feel has been lacking. Lead vocalist AJ Channer had this to say about the upcoming record:

“This album is the personal narrative of a minority man living in major cities and being American, there’s a socio-economic theme throughout the whole record that carries from each song to song. It’s all about the underdog. We’ve all had to fight for everything we have in this band. The political climate in our country is quite racially and socially charged. There are a lot of issues and energy people are expressing along with misguided hate and anger. I want to channel this in music that can resonate. This is where we come from and who we are as a band.”

‘Narrative Retold’ is Fire From The God’s second record and their debut on major label Rise Records. The album drops this Friday on May 19th; you can pre-order the record here. They are already building a well-established fan base touring across the country while making stops at large festivals like Carolina Rebellion and Rock on the Range. Continue reading

Review: MOTIONLESS IN WHITE – ‘Graveyard Shift’ [Official Videos]

Motionless In White is a band that I have loved from their beginning EP ‘The Whorror’ in 2007 all the way to their latest release ‘Graveyard Shift’ that came out just 2 days ago on the 5th of May via Roadrunner Records. After that glorious EP they released another one called ‘When Love Met Destruction’ in 2009, the coolest part about this EP is that there are only 1000 copies around so if you have one you should consider yourself lucky! ‘Creatures’ is their debut album which came out just 1 year after their second EP and it’s unbelievable how many fans Motionless In White got from that album alone. It’s truly a masterpiece from them that no one will ever forget about. 2 years later they already released another full album ‘Infamous’ and I got to tell you for that year (2012) there was nothing around like this album at all and that’s why the album became such a big hit. It got inspired by a lot of bands such as Slipknot, Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie and Korn, with this information alone I would already get my stuff and run to the store. ‘Reincarnate’ is their 3th album that came out in 2014 and it was the last album that got released via Fearless Records. Since then the band got their new label Roadrunner Records, Fearless Records really helped the band get through their early stages but Roadrunner Records is for sure a label which the band can grow on.

Review: THE CHARM THE FURY – ‘The Sick, Dumb And Happy’ (Official Video)

The Charm The Fury is a metalband from Amsterdam, The Netherlands that doesn’t fit in 1 genre and that’s exactly why I like them as a band. They have melodic riffs with clean vocals as well as growling. This shows what Caroline Westendorp as a vocalist is capable of. They consist of 5 people. Vocalist Caroline Westendorp, bassist Lucas Arnoldussen, drummer Mathijs Tieken, guitarist Rolf Perdok and Martijn Slegtenhorst. It all started with their EP ‘The Social Meltdown’,This EP didn’t get by unnoticed, right after this EP they debuted with their first album called ‘A Shade Of My Former Self’. After this they played live on a lot of big festivals like Graspop, Download, Fortarock, Lowlands. They even played with Slipknot and Papa Roach, if this doesn’t get you hyped then I don’t know what will.

I PREVAIL Announces Dates W/ ISLANDER, WAGE WAR, And ASSUMING WE SURVIVE

I believe that I Prevail is currently one of the hardest working bands out there right now. They have constantly been out on the road promoting their new material from their debut album ‘Lifelines’. The headlining tour also features up and coming post-hardcore band Islander, a heavy metalcore band in Wage War, and pop punk band Assuming We Survive. You can see the dates below. Continue reading
