ARCH ENEMY Releases New Music Video For “The World Is Yours” (Official Music Video)

Probably one of the biggest cards on the deck of melodic death metal, ARCH ENEMY has released their new official music video for the single, ‘The World Is Yours‘ from their all new upcoming tenth album in the catalog, entitled, ‘Will To Power‘ due out on September 8 through Century Media Records and via True Trooper Entertainment in Japan. The video was directed by Patric Ullaeus, who has previously helped bands like IN FLAMESAMARANTHEDIMMU BORGIREVERGREY etc. with his artistic and visionary directing skills. The video looks cool and everything that has went in to the making of this video is just epic and awe inspiring. From production, which I would say is one of the most classy, exhilarating and of grandeur nature ARCH ENEMY has ever done, to the lighting, camera angles and close up shots, no stones have been left un-turned, everything in the video has been done to pin point perfection.

Chicago Open Air Spotlight: AVERSED

*Every Tuesday and Thursday from now until Chicago Open Air gets here we will be releasing an article about a band playing the festival to get you familiar with them.*

Today’s artist is Aversed.

On Sunday, July 16th, students from the Berklee College of Music will bring their melodic death metal sounds to Chicago Open Air. Aversed is a 5-piece, female-fronted band that formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 2009. The band was added to the festival just a few weeks before the schedule was released so you won’t see them on the poster below. This was a much needed addition as the festival was lacking a female-fronted group. They hit the BlackCraft Stage on Sunday very early at 12:05 p.m. but it will be a performance you don’t want to miss. I’ve always found that some of the best performances of a festival will take place very early in the day. Read a little bit about how Aversed is preparing for the festival in this article from The Artery on WBUR 90.9 here.

Aversed released their debut EP last year in November titled ‘Renewal’. “Prison of Existence” opens the EP with a ferocity that shows they are more than just a band to get the day started off. Drawing influence from several bands playing the fest that day like Behemoth, Ozzy Osbourne, and Slayer, they create an extreme sound similar to that of the most recent Arch Enemy record. Even with only 5 songs, the EP clocks in at about 30 minutes with its epic combination of death metal growls, melodic vocals, fast-paced rhythms, and god-tier shredding from the guitarists. Check out “Prison of Existence” and a music video for the title track “Renewal” below. The video shows that the band puts a lot of energy into their live shows so I’m looking forward to seeing them own the stage very soon. This will be the quintet’s first time playing a Danny Wimmer Presents event. Buy your tickets to see Aversed make their festival debut at Chicago Open Air here. Follow the band on Facebook for upcoming news on brand new music and tours. Also follow the festival page for updates and additions to the festival in the coming days. 8 more days people!!

Aversed is:
Haydee Irizarry – Lead Vocals
Sungwoo Jeong – Guitar/Vocals
Alden Marchand – Guitar
Martin Epstein – Bass
Jeff Saltzman – Drums

ARCH ENEMY Announce New Album Details and First Leg Of Tour Dates

Can 2017 get any more exciting with all these cool album releases ? Probably one of the biggest cards on the deck of melodic death metal ARCH ENEMY just released details about their new upcoming studio album, just three years after their 2014 album,’War Eternal’ which saw Alissa White-Gluz(ex-The Agonist and Kamelot) debut on vocals after ferocious front woman Angela Gossow’s departure from the band and choosing to take the driving wheel on managing the band. This is going to be Alissa’s second album with the band. They successfully nailed down the ‘War Eternal’ album cycle with a world tour finishing it off by releasing the ‘As The Stages Burn!’ DVD recorded in their epic headlining performance in Wacken Open Air, 2016. An epic performance embossed in time and memories with a fantastic DVD, fans welcomed it with huge appreciation. Continue reading

It was well publicized last year, when Soilwork’s drummer of twelve years – Dirk Verbeuren – departed from the Swedish melodic death metal band to join Megadeth. In response to Dirk’s exit, Soilwork enlisted young gun, Bastian Thusgaard, to fill in as touring drummer for the remainder of the band’s touring commitments during these last ten months. And now, the band has confirmed that Bastian is the permanent drummer for the band! Below is a statement issued by the band via the Soilwork Facebook page today, concerning Bastian Thusgaard’s addition to the lineup.  Continue reading

IAPETUS – “The Long Road Home” Album Review (+Stream!)

Logo and Artwork by Xenoyr of Ne Obliviscaris!

It’s been awhile since I’ve reviewed a melodic death metal album on the site. Perhaps that is too long of a while, as the guys in Iapetus dropped a killer work of melodeath last month that only re-established my admiration for the beloved subgenre. The Long Road Home is the debut LP from Long Island duo, Matthew Cerami (vocals, guitars, bass) and Jordan Navarro (guitars, keys, drum programming), and it is a genuine trip into the cosmos. Weaving melodious death metal riffs into a dreamscape-like atmosphere, Iapetus is a band that fans of Be’Lakor, Dark Tranquility, or In Flames would be wise to keep on their radar. Continue reading
