Brian “Head” Welch is most known as one of the founding members of nu metal pioneers Korn. Brian has enjoyed lots of success in Korn, from winning Grammy’s and having one of the most successful albums of the late 90’s in “Follow The Leader”. Despite all that success Welch struggled with drug and alcohol abuse and eventually left Korn to focus on his sobriety and new found faith. Eventually Brian would rejoin Korn, and release 3 albums with them, including their most recent The Nothing, as well as putting out a documentary, Loud Krazy Love that showcased his time away from the band, rebounding with his daughter and how he ended up mending fences with his Korn brothers. This year was my third year in a row attending the AftershockFestival at Sacramento, California’s Discovery Park with my wife. This time around, it was the first year I was not only attending as a regular fan but also had the great opportunity of experiencing VIP perks as part of the media for the show. I had a full schedule of bands to watch throughout the day and a couple of potential interviews. This was definitely going to be a new and exciting experience. Continue reading →
All those “stand by” posts and teasers have finally been laid to grave today, as Monster Energy AFTERSHOCK FESTIVAL 2018 finally takes those curtains off the festival’s line-up. California’s biggest rock festival AFTERSHOCK 2018, returns for another year at the famous Discovery Park near downtown Sacramento, CA to be held this year on October 13th and 14th, Saturday and Sunday, respectively. With the fest posting a lot of teasers on their social media pages, fans put their thinking caps on and a lot of predictions were made. Some were right and some went wrong. Those who vouched in on their favourite bands give yourself a pat on your back as this year’s edition will be headlined by none other than SYSTEM OF A DOWN, who will be returning to the States after three years, as they celebrate the 20th anniversary of their landmark self-titled first album.
Not long ago Motionless In White released a full album called ‘Graveyard Shift’, released via RoadRunner, which is well received by many fans of the band (including me). It may not be as heavy as their older albums but that is one of the best aspects of ‘Graveyard Shift’, it is unique, sick and as diverse as it can be. Get right in!
Since the release of their debut LP, Narrative, last summer – Austin, Texas hardcore outfit, Fire From The Gods, have experienced a rapid surge in popularity. Attaining a record deal from Rise Records in the process, Fire From The Gods’ second album, Narrative Retold, is slated for a May 19th release. And the forecast could not look brighter for this young band’s sophomore LP, as the official music video for “The Voiceless”, revealed by Fire From The Gods last Friday, is an all-out slammer! Make sure and check out the music video above! “The Voiceless” is one of two tracks featured on Narrative Retold that were produced by none other than Jonathan Davis of Korn. Harnessing a genuine hardcore mentality with the perfect touch of melody, Fire From The Gods are bound to release one of the most solid albums of the year next month – that said based on this raw, powerful track alone.
