*Every Thursday from now until Louder Than Life gets here we will be releasing an article about a band playing the festival to get you familiar with them.*

This week’s artist is DED!

If you haven’t yet heard of or jammed out to the band DED, you must have truly been hiding under a rock! DED will be performing at Louder Than Life on Saturday September, 30th along side other great acts like Ozzy Osbourne, Rise Against, Incubus, Mastodon, Gojira and various others. The band formed in Phoenix, AZ two years ago with the goal of putting listeners on edge. They have achieved various other goals in the process as well. The band has been one of the best up and coming bands of the year and has helped revive the nu-metal scene that once was considered endangered. Over the course of the year they have taken the music scene by storm with their two singles. They were collecting fans from all over the world even prior to their album dropping. Their live performances and EP led to a quick amount of success including shows with Beartooth, Atreyu, Every Time I Die, and more. This summer they hit the road with Korn on several different tours, playing alongside acts like Stone Sour, Skillet, and Animals as Leaders. Continue reading

The Bucketlist With DED! [Video]

DED released their first song in December of 2016 titled “FMFY”. The song instantly instantly lit a fire among nu-metal fans as they quickly fell in love with the band. They have that throwback nu metal sound that monopolized the metal scene in the 90’s and the incorporate a more modern rock sound to make for a catchy tune that will get stuck in your head. Secondly they released “Anti-Everything”. The video was actually directed by Fred Durst (Limp Bizkit), and his vision actually amplified the song through visualization. “Anti-Everything” kicks off with an angsty rap and crunchy riff before ripping into an unforgettable chorus that has been receiving a ton of play on SiriusXM Octane. The band is playing various festivals this year including Carolina Rebellion, Chicago Open Air, Rocklahoma, Rock Allegiance and will also be on tour with Korn in July.. We were fortunate enough to catch up with Joe and David in Charlotte when they played Carolina Rebellion, you can see that interview here.  Continue reading

Chicago Open Air 2017 Day Three: Ozzy Osbourne, Slayer, Lamb of God, Amon Amarth, Behemoth, & More

We have finally arrived to the last day of Chicago Open Air. Sunday was the reason many of us made the trip for this huge three day weekend. By the time it rolled around, some fans were calling it “Death Day”.  You could definitely understand where they were coming from. There were several heavy hitters taking the stages today including Ozzy and Zakk Wylde, Slayer, Lamb of God, Amon Amarth, DevilDriver, Behemoth, and more. Lots of running back and forth would lead to a very tiring day. Luckily, it ended up being the coolest day of the weekend, which made it a bit more bearable. State Of The Art: DED!

Facebooktwittermail

*This is a part of our State Of The Art series, showcasing bands every Monday from the featured State*

                                                                    This month’s State is Arizona!

Ded is one of the best upcoming Nu-Metal bands from the state. While listening you will instantly recognize some of the greatest parts about Nu-Metal with some insanely good additions. They make you want to start your own damn pit in your living room, that is how crazy good they are. I have only found out about them recently yet I have already fallen in love with their sound. Vocalist Joe Cotela is inhuman, his screams have the same feeling to them that a lot of older bands had that just started out with a bunch of agression. That isn’t all, the guitar work of  David Ludlow is everything you are looking for in a Nu-Metal riff. It sounds raw and it has clear influences on a lot of other great Nu-Metal bands that are out there. Bassist Kyle Koelsch fits his role perfectly, the bass in the mix of their 3 songs is just right. It doesn’t dominate and it also doesn’t disappear in thin air. All these musicians are talented but a band wouldn’t be anything without an energetic drummer, that is where Matt reinhard jumps in. Luckily for us they have already released 3 songs from their upcoming debut album ‘Mis•An•Thrope’. The whole album will be available on the 21th of July. Those 3 songs are called ”FMTY”, ”Anti-Everything” and ”Dead To Me”. They have all been self released and they have all made me realise what I was missing out on before. These songs are full of power, hatred and filled with a bunch of head banging moments. I suggest you listen to them before we go any further in today’s State Of The Art, they are all linked at the very end! Continue reading

DED Releases Music Video For “Anti-Everything” Via Sirius XM Octane

Facebooktwittermail

Just a few hours ago, up and coming nu metal band DED released their second music video for their hit song, “Anti-Everything”. The video shows the things in the world that the band has obviously become sick of. The song was released about 4 months ago and has received a massive amount of airplay across the nation. It really took off on the Octane channel and spread to everywhere else. You can check out the song below. See what frontman Joe Cotela has to say about the song and video:

“We see these terrible things happening all over the world, and I don’t want to be associated with any of it,” Cotela said. “These negative acts and humans do not speak for me or the people that I surround myself with. I’m not going to tell anyone how to think, but I’m doing my best to stay conscious and aware of the way that I’m impacting the world. We should be past this bullshit. We are better than this. The images depicted here are only a small part of the influence of Anti-everything. There is so much more. The phrase can be left up to you to interpret based on you and your lifestyle. Anti-everything, to me, is me being beyond frustrated with the way things are to the point that I have to throw my hands up and say, ‘I’m none of this, I’m creating my own lane.”

The band has been seen across the country at festivals like Rock on the Range, Carolina Rebellion, and Northern Invasion. They’ve also been on tour with the likes of Korn, Stone Sour, and Yelawolf. They will be playing even more fests later in the year including Chicago Open Air (tickets here) and Louder than Life (tickets here). DED‘s debut album, ‘mis•an•thrope’ will drop on July 21st via Suretone Records and can be pre-ordered here. Make sure to follow the band on Facebook for updates on more upcoming new music and tour dates. You can learn more about the band from our COA Spotlight.

Carolina Rebellion 2017 Day 2 Review [Photo Gallery]

Ready for day 2 of Carolina Rebellion. After an amazing first day everyone was pumped and ready to enter the show for day 2. The day was full of diverse bands from different generations and wide ranging genres. You can go from Tesla to Machine Gun Kelly, or Sum 41 to DED. Today’s lineup really had a little something for everyone.  The Saturday lineup was filled with a tremendous amount of new names in metal like DED, Cover Your Tracks, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes and many more. Of course those are then followed up by bands who have been around the block a few times now like In This Moment, Nothing More, All That Remains and Alter Bridge. Then you have bands that have been around for decades like Sum 41, In Flames, Tesla, Korn and Def Leppard. Saturday we spent a lot of time interviewing bands and didn’t get a chance to make it out to see every band, but the ones we did see blew our minds. The must see bands on our list for this day cane in the form of a veteran act Sum 41 and a brand new band DED. Being around for the glory years of Sum 41’s career made me want to experience them live for the first time. DED is an amazing up and coming band that is about to release their debut album and their single “Anti-Everything” has become an anthem to the troublesome times we live in today. Continue reading
