MIST OF MISERY Release Single Broken Chains From Upcoming EP!

Mist Of Misery is for sure one of the most unique Black Metal bands I have ever come across, they combine the best elements from some of the most beautiful aspects from Black Metal together and make it their own. While listening you will almost get overwhelmed by their diversity, you will hear some clear influences of depressive, atmospheric, symphonic and melodic black metal. It is crazy how these guys do it but it sounds insanely good. I have fallen in love with them right after the release of their 2016 album ‘Absence’. It moves you into this mood that you can’t explain in words, it is magical. You for sure need to check it out, I have linked it down below and you can also click on the album name right above.

Venom Inc is not to be confused with the original black metal band Venom. Former Venom members have in fact created the band Venom Inc, former drummer Abaddon is in it next to vocalist/bassist The Demolition Man and guitarist Mantas. It is really cool that they created a new band, so great that they are still making music! They reunited in 2015 where they played at the Keep It True Festival, they raised from hell to play once again some heavy music for us. Chicago Open Air Spotlight: BEHEMOTH

*Every Tuesday and Thursday from now until Chicago Open Air gets here we will be releasing an article about a band playing the festival to get you familiar with them.*

Today’s artist is Behemoth.

On Sunday, July 16th, Chicago Open Air gets a taste of one of the world’s most acclaimed black metal bands, Behemoth. Since forming in 1991, the Polish black/death metal band has been known for their polarizing, intense live shows that sweep the crowd off of their feet. Typically meant for playing in the dark for the atmosphere, it will be interesting to see how Behemoth adjusts to bringing their full power into the sun. They are hitting the road here in the US with Lamb of God and Slayer so they definitely are not to be taken lightly. They are also one of the few bands that still put a great amount of thought into their music videos. Videos like “Ben Sahar”, “Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel”, and “At The Left Hand Ov God” contain very vivid imagery rather than only showing the band performing like most bands do now. Some people may be turned away from them because of the satanic content but I encourage you to give them a chance live. I know several people that did not appreciate them until watching one of their incredible live shows. Continue reading

This month’s State is North Carolina!

Today we are going to be talking about the death metal band Daedalvs from yet again North Carolina. They are a 4 piece band that consists of vocalist Pancho Mortem, drummer Aaron Charlton with assistance on the guitars from Spencer Starnes and Christian Chadwick. Daedalvs has been one of the most unique sounding upcoming bands I have ever seen. There is a lot of competition in the death metal scene but these guys push the boundries like no other band does, in no time they will be on the top! So far they have released 1 EP named ‘Apotheosis’, this masterpiece has been around since the 24th of February via the biggest death metal label SLAM WORLDWIDE. Just 4 days before this release they released their single ”God Machine” which is from that very same album, this song really got death metal fans talking about the band. For everyone that hasn’t heard of SLAM WORLDWIDE before I will introduce you to them real quick. As quoted by the owner the page is about ”ONE MAN PROMOTING MACHINE BRINGING YOU ONLY THE HEAVIEST UNDERGROUND MUSIC AROUND THE WORLD SINCE 2014.”. So any underground heavy band is welcome on this brutal page, luckily for us Daedalvs has claimed their spot and we can only hope for more awesome music!

REVIEW: LEGACY OF EMPTINESS – ‘Over The Past’ [Official Song Stream]

What is it that invades the sanity in your mind once when you stumble across the word, ‘Norway’ ? If you’re a trve bred metalhead, ‘black metal‘ is the only thing that will take over your mind. The grim, dark and blasphemous genre has a really deep connection with the country of Norway and why not, that is where the genre started to sprout into a global epidemic of unholy cacophony. Bands like Mayhem, Darkthrone, Enslaved, Burzum, Dimmu Borgir etc have created a niche for the genre so deeply engrossed, it’s almost like Norway is the face of the genre. Whether be it an old band or a new kid on the block, they surely know their black metal very well. It has also seen the face of diversification and a lot of experimentation, many bands have taken a different approach than the genre flag bearers, incorporating elements of majestic symphony, eerie surrealistic ambience, or just adding folk elements indigenous to their viking and pagan heritage. Whatever blend of black metal they churn out, it’s always great to listen to and connect.

Today I bring to your notice an excellent album by one of the rising symphonic black metal bands from Norway, LEGACY OF EMPTINESS. As the name suggests, they are a three piece band playing the blend of black metal I love the most, i.e., ‘Symphonic black metal‘ or ‘Ambient Black Metal‘ with a lot of folk and avant garde elements sprinkled here and there. The founding members Eddie and Kjell-Ivar formed this group as a “tongue in cheek” BM-project previously known as ‘Permafrost’, back in 1995. Recording a couple of demos for their self interest just like the way many bands start out, a few years later Øyvind joined in on keyboards and completed the line-up. They went on to record a couple of more demos, and disbanded in 2000. 2010 saw them make a comeback and gel up together again, as they realised the previously recorded songs were “too good to be left behind”. So they re-recorded them and released it as their debut in 2011.  Continue reading

CARACH ANGREN Release New Single “Charlie” [New Song Stream]

Dutch symphonic black metallers CARACH ANGREN have released yet another song titled, “Charlie“, from their upcoming 5th studio album, ‘Dance And Laugh Amongst The Rotten‘ out via kick-ass record label Season Of Mist on June 16th, 2017. Symphony, black metal, horror and orchestra are what makes CARACH ANGREN one of the best symphonic black metal bands out there among the likes of Dimmu Borgir, Cradle Of Filth etc. Their blend of horror, drama and suspense story line embedded in their music never fails to leave me awestruck and at the same time a feeling I would equate with ghost and horror tales. With bands like them experimentation in the black metal genre seems more mass appealing for sure.

Review: GLOOM – ‘Solaris’ [Official Videos]

Gloom creates a style you have never seen or heard before. It’s hard to point down but the combination is truly remarkable. Bill Calomiris does vocals, Dante Dalton is the guitarist, Jason Sayell is the bassist and on drums we have Albert Born. They are signed to the label eOne Music/Lifeblood inc and about to release their debut album ‘Solaris’. Their EP ‘Gloom’ got out in 2014 and got produced by Wretched drummer Marshall Wieczorek. It got instantly sucked up by one of the biggest metal sources on the internet Metal Injection. This created a path for the band to walk and also a swing in the right direction. They are even on the list of the Best Metal Songs of 2014 on Loudwire. Right next to big names like Eyehategod and Mastodon.
