Hot off the heals from their highly-successful run of tour dates with P.O.D, the explosive quintet Powerflo will smash the stage for audiences nationwide as main support for Mexican Mettalers Brujeria. Kicking off this October, Powerflo’s Billy Graziadei commented “So on fire to bring the energy of Powerflo to the Brujeria tour! We’ve been friends and fans of them for years! This tour is gonna be the hottest one out there!”

The powerhouse includes Grammy-Award Nominated multiplatinum Cypress Hill rapper Sen Dog, Downset guitarist Rogelio “Roy” Lozano, Biohazard vocalist and guitarist Billy Graziadei, ex-Fear Factory bassist Christian Olde Wolbers, and Worst drummer Fernando Schaefer who certainly live up to their name medling hip-hop, metal, punk, and rock into a potent offering. Their self-titled debut release received rave reviews from the press with NYS Music declaring “Powerflo is tight, has chemistry and contains killer hooks and a hard sound that grabs you by the collar and makes you listen. Keep an eye out for Powerflo. It’s easily the best debut album of this year”. It bowed at #15 on the Hard Rock chart, #17 on the Continue reading

The Third Annual “Bowl For Ronnie” Charity Bowling Party Returns!

The third annual BOWL FOR RONNIE Bowling Party, benefiting the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund (www.diocancerfund.org), will take place on Friday, October 6, 2017 at Pinz Bowling Center in Studio City, California. The event will include a celebrity bowling tournament and a raffle drawing. Last year’s BOWL FOR RONNIE brought in $36,500 for the cancer charity, which is now in its eighth year of raising awareness and much-needed funding for cancer research.

The BOWL FOR RONNIE bowling tournament is the perfect time to be able to raise money and further awareness of the cancer charity that can provide much-needed help and support to the people who are suffering from this disease, as well as their loved ones. These donations don’t even need to be much. It could even be what you raise from selling something similar to these custom pins, or from other types of activities. Every little bit of money can help fund cancer research and can spread even more awareness to people in the local community. It should be an action-packed evening for all of the participants.

BOWL FOR RONNIE participants can anticipate an evening of fun, food, and, drink. Can you name a better event that combines both fun and fundraising in one? It wouldn’t even be surprising to hear if some of the younger participants decided to ask, “where to get a fake ID” so they can enjoy some of the beverages on offer too. But it’s not just about that. You can’t forget that you will be bowling with rockers and celebrities competing for trophies in the name of raising funds and awareness for the Dio Cancer Fund, which is much more important. Among the raffle prizes will be a specially-designed bowling ball and pin featuring the BOWL FOR RONNIE artwork (which is pictured above).

The event kicks off at 6:30 PM with open bowling and a VIP pre-party for lane sponsors, celebrities and their guests. Previous BOWL FOR RONNIE events brought together entertainers and artists such as Grammy award winning duo Tenacious D featuring Jack Black and Kyle Gass, Tom Morello (Prophets Of Rage & Rage Against The Machine), John 5, members of Mastodon, Steven Adler of Guns and Roses, Lita Ford, members of the Grammy nominated group Stone Sour and many more. Last year John 5 and Tom Morello who as members of Eddie Trunk‘s bowling team, took top honors for the highest celebrity bowling team score. Do you want to know how they do so well? It’s all in the bowling ball, to learn more, you could check out this website.

EP Review: Prostitution – ‘Egyptian Blue’

High levels of activity, thriving urbanization, fortification in disposition and a mysterious yet entrancing underbelly are all indefatigable qualities associated with Brooklyn. One lesser-known concept hailing from said place would be the incorrigibly experimental blackened metal group Prostitutionwho evidently are set to release their new cryptically titled EP Egyptian Blue’ on 10 October 2017. The group is a power trio consisting of bassist/vocalist Jesse Adelson of Beast Modulus, guitarist/vocalist Russ Cowen of Black Harvest and drummer Jason Spence of Demilitia. The EP was produced and mixed by Anthony Lopardo and Raymond Marte and is an independent release.  Continue reading

Kings Of Strings: Seth Blake From Wage War!

Photo Credits: SARA V for SHOWLIGHT.

Today’s Kings Of Strings will be about guitar mastermind Seth Blake from metalcore band Wage War! Talking about the band, they have released 2 albums, their debut album ‘Blueprints’ (which is legendary) and their latest 2017 album ‘Deadweight’. I, and many others, didn’t think they could ever surpass their debut but they managed to make an album that is beyond words. They haven’t been around for that long yet they are quickly becoming one of the best metalcore acts this world has ever known. They aren’t bringing something unique to the table but instead they took all the beautiful and most loved parts of metalcore and stuffed it into 2 mind blowing records. For anyone that has the ability to witness them live, do it! You won’t regret it, they are a must watch. But enough of the band, let’s get talking about why Seth is a one of the guitar kings! Album Review: INANIMATE EXISTENCE – ‘Underneath A Melting Sky’ [Official Stream]

Featuring former members of Brain Drill and Flesh Consumed and released less than a year after their third release Calling From A Dream (Unique Leader Records), Bay Areas Inanimate Existence return with their fourth progressive tech-death fantasia Underneath A Melting Sky. This marks their first record to be released with independent label The Artisan Era and a definitive peak in their 8-year career with a firm establishment of direction after much experimentation. Produced at the Shark Bite Studios (responsible for the mastering behind Exodus’: The Atrocity Exhibition Exhibit A and Machine Heads The Blackening), this record offers a futuristic delivery of evolutionary technical death metal and an exciting glimpse into the direction of the genre to come.

State Of The Art – AWAKEN ANTAGONIST

Welcome back to a brand new State Of The Art, we decided to pick Alaska this month due to the crazy scene going on so let’s get started!

Awaken Antagonist is the very first band to be featured this month and it is a blend of the greatest parts of deathcore and metal. They have only released their debut (which is self titled) and recently they have released their first full album which goes by the name of ‘Shepherd Of Plagues’. It got out via bandcamp on the 28th of July and on their official youtube page on the 5th of September. The transition between the 2 music pieces are fenomenal, the debut is one of the best I have heard but their full album blows me away. They matured so much just after their first piece that it is almost unbelievable. Check the album art below (made by Art and Layout by Soul Asphyx Arts), it is violent!
