STONE TEMPLE PILOTS Release New Single “Roll Me Under” [Stream]

In November Stone Temple Pilots announced their new singer Jeff Gutt with a performance at the Troubadour in Los Angeles. Founding Stone Temple Pilots members brothers Dean DeLeo (guitar),  Robert DeLeo (bass), drummer Eric Kretz and late frontman Scott Weiland found worldwide fame following the 1992 release of their debut album ‘Core’. After their subsequent 2002 breakup, several reunions with Scott Weiland took place up until his ultimate firing from the group in 2013. Linkin Park frontman, the late Chester Bennington, was a member of STP from 2013 to 2015. The band took their time finding a new front man taking tens of thousands of audition from singers around the world. It turns out none of those auditions made the cut as they selected Gutt who was a contestant on the tv show The X Factor and he didn’t actually audition until the band reached out to him. The band has numerous festival appearances lined up this summer including Welcome To Rockville, Rock On The Range, Carolina Rebellion, Northern Invasion as well as a full U.S. Tour.

Stone Temple Pilots dropped their first new single back in November with the track “Meadow” and now the band has dropped another single titled “Roll Me Under” which is from the bands upcoming album self titled album that releases on March 16th. The new track has that same vibe that Weiland gave the band with his amazing and legendary voice. No one can replace Weiland but Gutt is a great fit for the band. The song takes you through several tempo changes and shows both the slowed down and fast paced vocal styles that Gutt can expel. While the bands sound has changed slightly they are still in the same realm as they were with their previous albums. “Roll Me Under” has great melodic delivery and groove filled rhythms and at times also gets more aggressive and speeds up becoming much more of a heavy rock song. You can hear both of the singles below and hear for yourself. I believe Stone Temple Pilots picked the right guy.
