Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton has always been known for his ability to produce some of the most outstanding riffs and contribute to some of Metal’s most iconic albums. He was one of the few guitarists of our generation that seemingly makes it effortless to write bone crunching riffs for every single Lamb of God album that releases, and we will all now have the chance to hear his musicianship at an even further level in his upcoming solo album, “Anesthetic.” The Lamb of God shredder has announced that the release of his first solo piece will be unveiled to the world in 2019, featuring collaborations with a lot of his old and new friends in the music industry. Sirius XM Liquid Metal will be premiering the single for the album all day tomorrow, so be sure to tune in and check it out! Continue reading

CHICAGO OPEN AIR 2019 Lineup Announcement!

After the cancellation of Chicago Open Air in 2018 many of the festival veterans were heartbroken that our annual get together wasn’t happening this year. The reason behind the cancellation was that the producers didn’t feel they had a lineup that was worthy of the Chicago Open Air name. We certainly appreciate that they want to impress us and have standards for the lineup that they deliver. This year the festival is making it’s return although cut down to a 2-day festival rather than the 3 days it was in 2016 and 2017. The festival will again be held in Bridgeview, Illinois just right outside the Windy City of Chicago at Seat Geek Stadium (formerly Toyota Park) on May 18th and 19th. The festival always carries the heaviest lineup of bands in regards to all the other Danny Wimmer Presents festivals of past and present (Rock On The Range, Louder Than Life, Epicenter, Welcome To Rockville etc). While most other festivals are declared as hard rock festivals Chicago Open Air has been labeled a “metal festival”. We also last year had a brief chat with Senior Vice President of Festival Talent at Danny Wimmer Presents Gary Spivack and he spoke briefly about Chicago Open Air and the other festivals which you can listen to here Continue reading

EPICENTER FESTIVAL Lineup Announcement!

The newly named EPICENTER FESTIVAL replaces Carolina Rebellion as the Carolina’s premiere rock and metal festival. The festival will still take place in early May on May 10th thru 12th. However, the location has changed and will now be held in Rockingham, North Carolina at the Rockingham Festival Grounds where Carolina Rebellion was originally held in its early years. The location change also brings with it some additional advantages for the festival. DWP has stated “With the move to our new site, we’re developing 140 acres into festival grounds, which will allow us to provide enhanced camping amenities, nighttime entertainment with no curfew, and expanded food and beverage offerings, all highlighted by a massive music lineup covering the spectrum of rock and alternative music.” Today the full lineup was released for the festival. We had several teasers which hinted at some acts like Tool, Korn and Judas Priest, so those headliners we certainly expected to be listed on the lineup.  Continue reading

REVIEW: JASON BECKER – ‘Triumphant Hearts’

What comes to mind when you think of the term Guitar Hero?  Is it the video game? Is it your favorite guitar player?  For me, it was the obvious guitar icons like Eddie Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix, Randy Rhoads, etc.  It wasn’t until recently I learned the true definition of a Guitar Hero.  Two words: Jason Becker.
