Recently you have probably heard more about Tim Commerford’s other project Prophets of Rage than WAKRAT, but don’t let that fool you. WAKRAT isn’t going on the back burner and we are very thankful for that. They had already released a video for “Knucklehead” which you can see here. The band recently signed to Earache Records and is expected to release their debut album later this year and no one is more excited about the release than us. In the meantime we have been blessed with another Wakrat track to get us through until we can enjoy the album in it’s entirety. About the debut album Commerford stated: “We are gearing up to be on the offensive, assaulting the populous with our debut album on Earache Records. We have put a shit load of blood and sweat into this and we want it back! Our mission is to attack modern music and smash the grid. Unapologetic, unrelenting, unbridled and uncensored. Understood?” Continue reading

Corey Taylor Announces Surgery And Postpones First 2 Weeks Of Tour!

taaylor

Slipknot lead singer Corey Taylor made an announcement today via Facebook:

Regretfully, I’m sending this to our fans to inform you that we will be postponing the first couple of weeks of our upcoming U.S tour. Unfortunately, I had to undergo an unplanned spinal surgery. Some people may think that for someone to have to have to undergo spine surgery, they must have a condition like scoliosis (click here for more information), but that is not always the case. I am recovering nicely, and all went well! I need a little recovery time before hitting the stage. We will start the summer tour in Nashville on 6/28 and continue as previously scheduled. An update on the rescheduled dates will be available in the next few days. I hope you all understand and thanks for always having my back!
Thank you
-Corey

British alt-rock trio DINOSAUR PILE-UP is gearing up for the release of their third studio album ‘Eleven Eleven’ via SO Recordings / Caroline on August 26, 2016. Lauded as “skillfully-crafted blast of modern grunge, and well worth your time” by Rock Sound, ‘Eleven Eleven’ takes the band into heavier and more intense territory, evoking the riffage and strains of their heroes Quicksand, Refused, Deftones and Helmet. The Future: Atlanta’s Hall of the Elders

Logo

My lovely daughter took me to The Big Ticket festival here in Jacksonville, FL a couple of months ago. The line, of course, was blocks long to get in and not moving. As is typical in the festival atmosphere, everyone was friendly and socializing with those around them in line, discussing who they were waiting to see, who they had seen before and finding out who was going to future concerts in the area. There were also many out-of-towners with so many bands playing at one venue. After waiting for about five minutes, we were approached by Jack White, promoting his band: Hall of the Elders. We struck up and easy conversation about his band and music in general. Of course, I am always on the lookout for new tunes and emerging bands to throw my support behind! Jack is a very cool guy with a wide variety of tastes in music. We exchanged information and eventually got back in touch so that I could take a closer listen to Hall of the Elders. Consider me very impressed… Continue reading

After covering Conquest in a recent article, I had the unique opportunity to talk with Derrick Brumley, lead singer and guitarist for this killer band. What are you waiting for? Go check them out! But first, a conversation with the man himself…

Lo-Pan has been one of the driving forces in the Columbus music scene for some time now. That band has a unique sound that draws any and all ears toward the music they create. Each member of the band is a master at their instrument. The band welcomed guitarist Adrian Zambrano a little over a year and a half ago to the band. Today it was announce that Adrian had left the band and Lo-Pan is again looking for someone to fill the role of guitarist. Lo-Pan announced his departure via Facebook making this statement:

“Our guitarist Adrian Zambrano has decided he needs to walk away from Lo-Pan at this time to focus on some other important parts of life. We would like to emphasize that this is an amicable split and we wish him all the best. We are currently on the hunt for a new guitarist and we hope to see you all again as soon as possible. Stay tuned for announcements and new music.”

State of the Art: Iron Iris

*This is part of our State Of The Art series, showcasing bands every Monday from the featured State*

This month’s State is Arkansas!

Logo

I have to say that Arkansas has been one of the easiest states to find good, Metal bands to cover for our State of the Art series. All types of Metal have been represented over the course of the month as well: Traditional, Thrash, Christian, Bluesy, Sludge and Doom. As a matter of fact, it took all but a single search to pick out four of my Arkansas bands. Collectively, none of us can read a calender and were getting ready to move onto our next state this week when BloodRoseRed pointed out that we still had one more week in Arkansas. Boneheads. I humorously felt like a complete idiot. Meh. Shit happens. Moving on… I again, had zero difficulty finding another unique band to cover so his week I give you Iron Iris.

Memorial Day Tribute: The Story Behind The Song – Inner Demons “Never Coming Home”

Being a veteran along with both of my grandfathers (WWII), my Dad (during Vietnam), two of my brothers and two of my cousins, Memorial Day holds a very sacred and special place in my heart. I know first-hand that the blood of my Brothers and Sisters in Arms have paid the ultimate price for the freedoms that we, as a country, so often take for granted. It is painfully difficult to put into words what this sacred day truly means. Respect. Honor. Pride. Resilience. Espris de corps. Retrospect. All common and terribly inadequate descriptors for the precious value of human life bartered in the name of our country’s independence.
