Bruce Dickinson Of IRON MAIDEN To Release Autobiography ‘What Does This Button Do?’ In October

The multi talented, the one and only, legendary vocalist of IRON MAIDEN, Bruce Dickinson, will be adding another feather to his multi faceted cap as he will release his massively awaited autobiography, ‘What Does This Button Do?‘ later this year in the month of October. The memoir of the singer, who is considered to be metal’s one of the greatest of all time, will be published on October 19th via HarperCollins.

Over a career spanning more than three decades, having played all over the world, from being an aircraft pilot to business man, an aviation entrepreneur, a beer brewer, motivational speaker, film scriptwriter, twice-published novelist, radio presenter, TV actor and a world-class fencer, Bruce has had everything under his belt. Not many people can claim to have both writing and motivational speaking accolades under their belts, along with a wealth of other accomplishments, unless they’re veterans of the entertainment industry (like Roger Wolfson who is also one of the few people to have mastered some of these disciplines such as writing for the screen). Count in defeating cancer as well. How bad ass is that? He has been one hell of an inspirational figure not just a metalhead but anyone in general can look up to. Only thing that was missing was an autobiography, and that is going to change this coming fall, now that he has learned how to write a book overviewing his life so far! How much more talent could you want?

The Bucketlist with Loudwire’s Graham Hartmann! [Video]

In this series we pose the age old questions to a wide array of music lovers. As fans of music most of us keep a mental list of active bands we want to see live that we haven’t yet seen. The Bucketlist brings to you those lists of your favorite artists and why those bands mean so much to them.

Most of you are surely familiar with Graham Hartmann formerly known as Gruhammed from Loudwire.com. He has interviewed several big names in the music world some of those including Mastodon, Corey Taylor, Phil Anselmo, Paul Stanley, Megadeth, Slayer and various others. His unique segment Wikipedia Fact or Fiction had given fans around the world insight and information about their favorite artists for a long time now. Graham is not only a music journalist or the host of these interviews, he loves music and it courses through his veins. While both Metal Nexus and Graham were covering the recent Chicago Open Air festival we took the time to get together and talk bands that we wanted to see but hadn’t yet. Living in New York and also working for Loudwire offers Graham the opportunity to see various bands, but 5 bands have eluded him.  Continue reading

Australia’s one of the biggest exports in the extreme metal genre, NE OBLIVISCARIS just released their first official music video off the upcoming album, ‘Urn’ for the track ‘Intra Venus‘, and it sounds beautiful yet ghastly. This new album is a follow up to 2014’s ‘Citadel‘ which in my opinion is a great album and worth mentioning if you want delve into progressive death metal. AUGUST BURNS RED Teases New Album

Barely an hour ago, Christian metalcore band August Burns Red posted their first teaser of their upcoming new record. It has only been two years since the Pennsylvania quintet put out the terrific ‘Found in Far Away Places’ record. It was considered by many as one of the best records of 2015. The band has only continued to evolve and progress more and more throughout their career so I’m curious to see where this album will take them. The teaser was also posted by Fearless Records’ Facebook page so it looks like the band will be sticking with them for a second album. The only words on the caption of the video are “October 6th, 2017”. We can assume that they are planning to drop the new record on that date so keep your eyes peeled for more news on the future record from these metalcore giants. You can follow them on Facebook below and check out the 20 second teaser right under it. Continue reading

Louder Than Life Spotlight: THROUGH FIRE

*Every Tuesday and Thursday from now until Louder Than Life gets here we will be releasing an article about a band playing the festival to get you familiar with them.*

Today’s artist is Through Fire.

On Saturday, September 30th, Nebraska hard rockers Through Fire will be hitting the stage at the 4th annual Louder Than Life. The band came to be just last year after the band Emphatic decided to change their name. If you’ve been listening to rock radio for the last few years, Emphatic might sound familiar. They had hits like “Put Down The Drink” and “Remember Me” that received a lot of air time. I don’t think they play any material from those days as they already have their full debut record out as Through Fire. ‘Breathe’ dropped last year and charted very well in the US for a debut rock artist’s release. Their song “Stronger” played a large part in this. It stayed atop Sirius XM Octane’s “Big Uns” list for many weeks. This will be the band’s second Danny Wimmer Presents festival. They opened up the inaugural Chicago Open Air festival last year right as their record was released. Continue reading

Chicago Open Air 2017 Day Three: Ozzy Osbourne, Slayer, Lamb of God, Amon Amarth, Behemoth, & More

We have finally arrived to the last day of Chicago Open Air. Sunday was the reason many of us made the trip for this huge three day weekend. By the time it rolled around, some fans were calling it “Death Day”.  You could definitely understand where they were coming from. There were several heavy hitters taking the stages today including Ozzy and Zakk Wylde, Slayer, Lamb of God, Amon Amarth, DevilDriver, Behemoth, and more. Lots of running back and forth would lead to a very tiring day. Luckily, it ended up being the coolest day of the weekend, which made it a bit more bearable. Continue reading to see our review on the most electric day of the festival. Continue reading

MOTÖRHEAD Plan To Release “Under Cöver” Album This September

MOTÖRHEAD had a special knack for covering songs of their favourite artists and giving it a pure rock and roll and classic heavy metal touch to it. Every album had one song or the other which Lemmy and co. liked to morph it to their own taste and it would undoubtedly make an excellent rendition of the original song. Hell, sometimes even better than the original. Be it the legendary British punk rock SEX PISTOL‘s God Save The Queen‘ or The Rolling Stones Sympathy For The Devil‘ or even ‘Whiplash‘ by METALLICA, the band who themselves cite MOTÖRHEAD as their probably biggest inspiration to whatever they’re doing today. MOTÖRHEAD have never failed to take us by storm with their good old fashioned rock and roll twist of their covers.

State Of The Art : AMERICAN STANDARDS

*This is a part of our State Of The Art series, showcasing bands every Monday from the featured State*

This month’s state is Arizona!

When we found out what state would be featured for our weekly series of STATE OF THE ART, I automatically knew who I wanted to introduce to the world, the fantastic guys in American Standards. American Standards is a chaotic hardcore band that you probably do not know and will kick yourself for not knowing them before today. But don’t be saddend by this, even I was late to the party, not discovering them until sometime in late 2016 when meeting their vocalist Brandon Kellum through the Facebook fan group for Dillinger Escape Plan, The Dillinger CompoundAmerican Standards story is that of separation, loss and the adaptability that allows us to preserver. Formed in Phoenix, AZ in the summer of 2011, the band released their first album ‘Still Life’ through We Are Triumphant, an imprint of Victory Records. Musically, the record walked a fine line between subtle melody and raw chaos providing a platform for vocalist Brandon Kellum’s emotionally and politically charged lyrics. The band quickly became known for their intense live shows and undeniable work ethic playing over 300 shows to date.
