MOTIONLESS IN WHITE Release ”Necessary Evil” Featuring Jonathan Davis!

Not long ago Motionless In White released a full album called ‘Graveyard Shift’, released via RoadRunner, which is well received by many fans of the band (including me). It may not be as heavy as their older albums but that is one of the best aspects of ‘Graveyard Shift’, it is unique, sick and as diverse as it can be. Get right in!

TOMBS announces USA tour dates with 1349 & GOATWHORE

After recently releasing their fourth full-length, ‘The Grand Annihilation’, Tombs is heading back out on the road again in support of it, this time with 1349 and Goatwhore, leading up to the bands’ Ozzfest/Knotfest appearances. Check out below for all dates!

Tombs tour dates
w/ 1349, Goatwhore:

Oct. 28 – The Earl – Atlanta, GA *
Oct. 29 – Hi Tone – Memphis, TN
Oct. 30 – Come and Take It Live – Austin, TX (supporting Kreator)
Oct. 31 – Tricky Falls – El Paso, TX (supporting Kreator)
Nov. 1 – Top Deck – Farmington, NM (supporting Kreator)
Nov. 2 – Dive Bar – Las Vegas, NV

Nov. 5 – Knotfest @ Glen Helen Amphitheater & Festival Grounds – San Bernardino, CA ^
*=no Goatwhore
^=no 1349 or Tombs

While every track on ‘The Grand Annihilation’ stands separate from those around it, it is still a cohesive collection, and at no point do the stylistic twists and turns undermine its coherence. The blasting, scathing yet melodic black metal savagery of opener “Black Sun Horizon” and “Way Of The Storm” are very much built to destroy, while wielding a poignancy that is undeniable – both of which stand in strong contrast to the uncomfortable post-punk squall of “Underneath” that showcases front-man Mike Hill’s Nick Cave/Ian Curtis-esque singing voice, while the likes of the throbbing “Saturnalian” and unnerving tribal thunder of “Walk With Me In Nightmares” stand in categories all of their own.

KARABAS BARABAS Release Official Music Video for “Sexy Guy”

With Jacques Lemaire’s guidance & training KB was sent on a holy crusade to slay the sexy demon in the name of the Lord, who was born on isle 2 in 7-11.

Political statements are not new in the music industry and in the newest video from the psychedelic Brooklyn rockers Karabas Barabas, they bring a thought provoking query on the role of public figures in defining political responsibility. The song, “Sexy Guy,” which is off of their full length 2016 release ‘The Return of the Sexy Demon‘ which was produced by Steve Albini. It is unique to be sure, with echoes of such influences as Mr. Bungle and flashes of Foxy Shazam, but it’s infinitely catchy with an infectious, groovy chant like feel.

Album Review: STONEBIRDS – ‘Time’

If one were to accurately describe the after-effects of the act of combining the iridescent romanticism of psychedelia and the intense brooding nature of doom-rock then they’d gain an awful lot of credibility upon mentioning Stonebirds, a project which was formed in 2008 and has since proved itself to be a noteworthy Continue reading

Kicking off this October, Powerflo’s Billy Graziadei commented “So on fire to bring the energy of Powerflo to the Brujeria tour! We’ve been friends and fans of them for years! Legendary vocalist Steven Tyler is undergoing “immediate medical attention” due to some “unexpected medical issues”. And that has forced the entire band AEROSMITH to cancel the remaining last four tour dates or shows of the ongoing “Aero-Vederci Baby!” tour that was announced some couple of months back. Live On The Lot 2017: Bowling Green Local Bands Festival [Photo Gallery]

PR Image by Brian Jarvis

September 14th started Tidball’s bi-annual Live on the Lot show. Tidball’s, a bar in downtown Bowling Green, Kentucky, has been hosting Live on the Lot since 2006, when it was originally named “Rock ‘n’ Roll Weekend.” There aren’t any sponsors for the show, but Tidball’s gave credit to their partners, Yellowberri, New Belgium Brewing, Ingen, Henderson Beverage, Papa John’s, Shoguns, and Pop’s Street Eats (who catered), for the event. The three day show acts as a small scale music festival for local bands to showcase their talents. Tidball’s picks out the bands that will get to perform, choosing a handful of local artists along with a couple of regional musicians. It’s great that Tidball’s offers newer bands the opportunity to get out there in something like a festival setting. On top of giving bands a place to start a fan-base, the show follows a week after Tidball’s hosted a show to raise money for victims of Hurricane Harvey. The second and third nights also included Alex’s Lemonade Stand, whose profits benefited a friend of John Tidball, who is fighting Leukemia. Everything Tidball’s offers to Bowling Green stands well with me. The first day’s show would feature one band, Morning Teleportation. Day two includes Aluxes, Menagerie, Floralorix, Peter the Freshman, Audiodacity, Waco Bell, and The Josephines. Finally, the last day would have Lazy Sunday, Plastic Friends, The Savage Radley, Dead Broke Barons, Black Bloods, Heron and Crane, and The Black Shades.

State Of The Art : MALSUMIS

*This is a part of our State Of The Art series, showcasing bands every Monday from the featured state*

This month’s state is Alaska!

Hey metalheads of the pale blue dot! I am back with another State Of The Art write up this Monday to shoot some energy in you, so that you don’t have to whine about how this specific Monday is more boring than the previous one was. Anyways, let’s cut to the chase, and let me have the honor of presenting you one of the very promising bands from the extreme north of United States, battling the cold, dark and grim weather. Let’s give it up for MALSUMIS people! Hailing from the largest city in Alaska, Anchorage, MALSUMIS are a black metal band spawning from the misty, cold and bleak wintery landscapes of America’s Northern most state, just a year ago in 2016, and they successfully have garnered a lot of attention already, while still in its infancy. Mad props to them on that!
