Album Review: HONEYBOMBS ‘Wet Girls And Other Funny Tales’ [Track Stream & Download]

“Let’s do the Time Warp again!” You don’t even know how much I love stumbling on these new bands that sound like they’re from a generation I really wish I hadn’t missed. HoneyBombs sound like a mix of all of the best 80’s hair metal bands and it’s the reason I enjoyed listening to their album straight away.

State Of The Art: BINARY CODE! [Official Album Stream]

*This is a part of our State Of The Art series, showcasing bands every Monday from the featured state*
This month’s state is New Jersey!

Binary Code is a progressive metalband from, how suprising, New Jersey. They have been making stellar music since 2010 starting with ‘Priest’ which is, to me, one of the better progressive records I have heard in a while. But don’t worry, the flame hasn’t died yet. Last year, May 24, they restarted the engine by firing up the full album ‘Moonsblood’. So without further ado, let’s dig right into this masterpiece of a band!

Fort Lauderdale based Future Goth duo MODERN MIMES recently covered epochal Goth Metal legends TYPE O NEGATIVE‘s 2003 “I Don’t Wanna Be Me,” and paired it with a visually alluring music video, and not only did the iconic surviving members approve, but quickly promoted the single and video ahead of release.

JOYOUS WOLF’S Greg Braccio “I Don’t Think There Should Be Perfection In Rock, It’s Suppose To Be Flawed” [Video]

A gritty howl opens Joyous Wolf’s upcoming debut LP, ‘Enigma’, and it’s the perfect introduction since the band plays rock & roll at its most primal and passionate. Formed in 2014 guitarist Blake Allard’s bluesy riffs harken back to the classic hard rock of AC/DC, Cream and Deep Purple while still packing a thoroughly modern wallop, while front man Nick Reese’s voice seems to come from deep in his gut as he sings about everything from warring kingdoms to a tribute to a fallen friend. Together, with bassist Greg Braccio and drummer Robert Sodaro, Joyous Wolf’s members work together to create some of the most exciting, promising and unwieldy back-to-basics rock to come out of Southern California in recent years. If you have been searching furiously for a band that has a throwback sound that truly shows old school influence while also adding modern elements to their sound to remain fresh, vibrant and unique then look no further. Joyous Wolf played a major role on several fall rock festivals this year, being one of the only unsigned bands to grace the stages from Kentucky to California. I have no worries that this band will soon find a label with their huge booming sound, it’s impossible to hear their music and not fall in love.  Continue reading

Review: MALET GRACE – ‘Malsanity’ [Official Videos]

Malet Grace formed in 2014 in Italy. The band formed based on the idea of the singer / guitarist Giampaolo Polidoro, who developed the plan after an encounter with guitarist Alessandro Toselli. After the first session of composition, where the first version of “Egopathy” was perfected, they contacted guitarist Andrea Paglierini who decided to devote himself entirely to the instrument of the bass. The newly formed neo-band develops the idea of a concept album based on the disintegration of the ego and its opening to the apocryphal patterns of the human intellect and the consequent immorality of the contrasting debate between good and evil. The term “Malet Grace” shares both idiosyncratic shapes of the fragile art of existence.  The band recorded their demo in late 2014, but afterwards the drummer left the band. In December 2015, drummer Andrea Giovanetti joined the line-up of the band. The first full-length recordings are scheduled for June 2016. The band has now released ‘Malsanity’ that includes a unique blend of varying influences and styles. It’s not often a band can cross genres on one single song but somehow they manage to be the masters of doing just that.

CD Release Party for Stayne Thee Angel’s “Time and the Hourglass”

I cannot think of a better way to spend Veterans Day than attending a show of rabidly patriotic bands brought together for the release of Stayne Thee Angel’s new CD Time and the Hourglass. At the last minute, I decided to review the show since I have been unable to attend many shows as of late. Held at one of my favorite local haunts here in Jacksonville, FL, Jack Rabbits, I got there a couple of hours early to hang out with my friends in Inner Demons, listen in on their sound check and meet the other bands, both of which I have seen a number of times and highly enjoy listening to; not to mention I was anxious to hear what Stayne Thee Angel had to offer with their new CD. Let’s just say this was one helluva good night!

For me, this song is a call to action to everyone that we as humans will soon extinguish all of the world’s wildlife

Swedish metal priestess LIV SIN has released the video for her newest single, “King of the Damned,” out now through Despotz Records.  The track is both heartfelt and in your face at the same time as it concerns one of Liv’s most passionate loves, animals.  And specifically wildlife. Following suit of many artists who are voicing their concerns on animal welfare and against its abuse, LIV SIN‘s new single “King Of The Damned” is co-operation with the Swedish Animal Rights organisation “Djurens Rätt

LIV SIN was formed by charismatic front-woman Liv Jagrell in 2016 from the ashes of SISTER SIN that disbanded the preceding year. TAX THE HEAT Unveil New Single “Money In The Bank” Ahead Of Second Studio Album – Preorders Live Today! [Official Video Stream]

“We are extremely excited to unveil the first single from our new album. ‘Money In The Bank’ combines key elements of what we do best: big riffs, big choruses and filthy guitars. We believe that an album should be seen as a snapshot in time of an artist or band, this album has captured us at a particularly exciting moment.” – Alex Veale

The record is scheduled for release on 9th March 2018 via Nuclear Blast Entertainment and is available to pre-order today! It will be available on CD, Digitally, Limited Edition Gatefold Vinyl and Limited Edition Light Blue Vinyl. As guitarist/vocalist Alex Veale says We love the energy of those ’60s bands. Maximum R&B – that’s the basis for TAX THE HEAT. But we’re taking it somewhere else…creating something that has that raw energy but is also original.” From humble beginnings in 2015, Tax The Heat have become one of the most notable of new British rock acts. Singles taken from debut album ‘Fed To The Lions’ (2016) picked up airplay on Kerrang! Radio, Planet Rock and BBC Introducing. The band also honed their live craft supporting the likes of Cadillac 3, Reef, The Graveltones, Black Star Riders, Masters Of Reality, Virginmarys and Thunder, and festival appearances such as 2000 Trees, Download, Calling and Ramblin’ Man Fair Continue reading

Review: GRANT NATIONAL – ‘Double Black’ [Album Stream]

Grant National come to us from Germany and claim they have been “Making juices flow since 1973”. You can certainly hear some old school influence in their sound, but they are by no means stuck in that era and there are tons of modern influence in their music as well. The band is comprised of Gaylord Goldmann (Vocals, Bass, Guitar), Earo Sheppert (Guitars), and new member N.D. Sheppert (Drums). With influences ranging from James Brown to The Melvins the band somehow manages to cohesively mold all these differing influences into one well flowing style. The bands last release was ‘Volume II’ in 2013 and prior to that the band released ‘Sheer Beauty’ in 2011. The band has now unleashed their newest creative force with ‘Double Black’ on October 20th, 2017. Grant National took a little longer between records this time around and I believe it certainly shows in the progression of their sound. ‘Double Black’ was recorded with German Noiserock popes Guido Lucas & Ralf J. Rock at their Stöhrsound Studio during the 1st half of 2017 and the album was released via Bluenoise Records.
