State Of The Art: Maryland’s LOUDER THAN QUIET [Videos + Track Stream]

*This is a part of our State Of The Art series, showcasing bands every Monday from the featured state.*

This month’s state is Maryland!

Hailing from Upper Marlboro, Maryland, melodic death metal/post-hardcore band, Louder Than Quiet brings a unique brand of high-decibel, eclectic variety. Since originally forming in 2010, the quintet consisting of Urico (vocals), Domo (bass), Anthony “Airospace” (drums), Danny (lead guitar), and Alireza (guitar and vocals) came together while in high school when they discovered their common interest for heaviness in music. They’ve since greatly expanded their fanbase through consistently performing in Washington DC and surrounding areas. Continue reading

SYSTEM OF A DOWN Announce West Coast Tour and Confirm Headlining Slot at Aftershock Festival 2018 [Tour Dates]

System of a Down, a band that needs no introduction has been teasing at something big brewing over the course of the last four days. With just simply the cryptic, single word “THREE,” along with a retro-style beach photo, tweeted at 10am on April 6th, 2018 from the band’s official Twitter page; followed by “TWO” tweeted approximately 24 hours later on April 7th with planes and a bomb added to the photo; then yesterday the word “ONE” with more bombs appearing; it seemed they were counting down to prepare the world for something significant to be unleashed. Could it be a new album? A new tour? Continue reading

Review: SHIT THE COW – ‘Cavelord’ [Album Stream]

Sweden’s Shit The Cow released their first full length last December and it rips! Since 2011 they have released five EPs, ramping up to their debut album ‘Cavelord’. They describe their music as “scrapyard rock” that is “sound of an old rusty truck crashing into a tree” and I think that is true of their sound. They like to keep their songs short and tight, and that can also be said about the tracks on this new album. They have matured their sound, without cutting out any of the lean riffs. I would recommend this band and this album to someone who is looking for something like Queens of The Stone Age but with a rusty Red Fang edge to it. Robin fronts the band with guitar/vocals while Danno and Erka share the responsibility of guitar/bass. Robin gives their sound a tight rhythm to follow on drums. Continue reading

Review: FERRETT – ‘In Through the Out Door’ [Album Stream]

FerreTT is a glam metal/thrash band that hails from New York City. Their lineup consists of “The King of The Night Time World” on vocals, “TT Benoit” on rhythm and lead guitar, “Scotty Hart” on rhythm and lead guitar, “Nicky G.” on rhythm and lead guitar, “Lexi Slade” on bass, “Leigh FoXXX” on keyboards and piano, and lastly, “Alamo Jones” on drums. FerreTT has released 2 full length studio albums., which include ‘Year of The Forest’ released in 2013 and the latest album released in 2017, ‘In Through the Out Door’. Both have been released independently. They are currently not signed to a label, but with the energy and passion felt within their music I believe labels will be knocking on their door soon enough. Review: ZAO – ‘Pyrrhic Victory’ [EP Stream]

‘Pyrrhic Victory’ the latest EP release (November 3rd, 2017) by the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Metal band Zao, (Observer Recordings) is their latest outstanding showing of gritty, hostile sound that is helping create a name for themselves in the underground metal scene. The EP was recorded and mixed by Dave Hidek at Treelady Studios and The Church Recording Studio. This EP is the follow up to their 2016 album, ‘The Well-Intentioned Virus’. After being together for more than 18 years, they are still bringing heavy doses of abhorrence and animosity. Continue reading

Sean Yseult (WHITE ZOMBIE) Touring With Pantera Was “The First Time We Saw People Actually Move Around And React To Our Music”

Sean Yseult, best known as the bass player from the multi-platinum and twice Grammy-nominated band White Zombie. The band formed in 1985 and Yseult played bass in White Zombie for 11 years before they disbanded in 1998. Though vocalist Rob Zombie went on to perform under his own name most fans recognize White Zombie as superior to his solo work. On November 1, 2010, Yseult released the book I’m in the Band, which contained tour diaries and photos as well as details from her eleven years spent as a member of White Zombie. She also was a member of the psycho-surf band Famous Monsters and the project that is most current is Star & Dagger.
