OVERKILL’s New Song Proves That They’re The Undisputed Kings Of Thrash

New Jersey heavy weights OVERKILL are just no where even in close proximity being done. They have a lot of unfinished business, and to take care of that the band has already announced its next studio album. The upcoming all new 19th studio record, ‘The Wings Of War is dropping on February 22nd, 2019 via Nuclear Blast. And to get you a first taste of the oncoming thrash attack, Bobby Blitz and co. have their very first single in the form of a lyric video out from the album. It’s called, ‘Last Man Standing‘, and as intimidating as it sounds, it does stand up to its name for it is one hell of a typical thrash, true to its core attack. It’s a riff fiesta accompanied with satisfying fast and ruthless riffs, swift & technical drumming and of course, Bobby’s trademark raspy, awesome vocals.

Bobby “Blitz” Ellsworth comments, “The time has come, for a first taste, ‘Last Man Standing‘.  This cut got the unanimous nod to open The Wings of War, all they way back to the first demos in March, so much so, it was mock titled OPENER up until the recording.  Sometimes everyone is on the same page, wtf!.  So dig into some old school thrash, with a side order of Jersey made, head-banging.”

The Wings Of War‘ turned out to be a quick succession to 2017’s ‘The Grinding Wheel‘.  The forthcoming album was recorded at Gear Recording Studio in New Jersey, SKH Studio in Florida and Jrod Productions with engineering handled by DD and Dave. The album was produced by the band while Chris “Zeuss” Harris handled the mixing and mastering. Travis Smith (NEVERMORE, OPETH, SOILWORK, DEATH…) was once again enlisted to create the artwork for the album.

Pre-order ‘The Wings Of War now digitally and receive ‘Last Man Standing instantly or stream the song. Click here to enjoy all of that. Former SHADOWS FALL drummer Jason Bittner will be seen debuting on this record. Intriguing to see what and how he incorporates his skills in the new album.

Dig right in!

About Rattlehead

Hi, Rattlehead here. I'm from India, and I'm obsessed with metal of all sub-genres but mostly into thrash and death. I also love other genres, like jazz, funk, rock, some punk, a bit of blues, some country, but well, metal is where I feel at home. I'm always on the run discovering new music. Fanboying Megadeth since I was 13. Love to talk about metal, sports and a little bit of everything here and there. I also love dissing your god, I love food, seeing metal gigs, traveling and also a metal merch and record collector. I hope you like what I write and the music I suggest you. Please do share if you like. Cheers and stay heavy \m/
