Jason “J-Sin” Luttrell was the vocalist of Primer 55, the celebrated nu metal based in Louisville, Kentucky. Jason or “J-Sin” was the vocalist of the band from 1997–2003 and then came back for a short period of time in 2007. However, after only three weeks of touring J-Sin was forced to exit the band due to poor performances and costly antics caused by continued drug and alcohol addictions that would eventually land him in rehab. As of August 10th, Jason was in the ICU at Baptist Memorial Hospital Desoto in Southhaven, Mississippi. At around 10:00 AM Central time a relative of the singer stated “As most of you know Jason has been sick for a long time. He is currently in the ICU at Baptist Desoto and is not expected to make it through the day. They are making him as comfortable as possible at the moment.” As of 8:31 PM Central time J-Sin has passed away, our deepest condolences are with his family, friends and band mates past and present. Well here we are finally and I say this reluctantly, who would have thought we’d live to see this? Back in March, Frank Mullen the legendary original vocalist of NY death metal pioneers, SUFFOCATION announced that he would be hanging up his boots as their full time member. In a video posted on his Facebook page then, he alongside with Victoria formerly of WWE fame can be seen talking and that’s when Frank says he will be seeking for “new beginnings” and pursue full time acting and a few other projects in the future. And now the time has come for Frank Mullen to actually say goodbye to the legions of death metal and SUFFOCATION fans all over the globe. But.. but, before he calls it a day, he and his band will be trekking all across North America for a final farewell tour, aptly named “Death Chopping North America – Farewell Frank Tour 2018” with sick support coming in from misanthropic gore grinders CATTLE DECAPITATION, Brazilian death metal legends KRISIUN, and Swedish tech-death sensations SOREPTION. All of this crazy stuff happening this upcoming October / November.

Today Metal Nexus drops the exclusive music video premiere of Heartsick’s “Snake Man.” Hitting the streets, we see imagery of a mixed martial arts fight, badass lowered pickup trucks, drunken house party debauchery, and a protest rally while the Michigan quartet performs in a small, darkly-lit venue. The track is powerfully groove-laden and drenched in attitude with lead vocalist Alfonso Civile especially knocking it completely out of the park during the chorus. The overall look and feel is pleasingly DIY which adds to the track’s street-level grittiness; and the heavily-effected, tripped-out guitar solo is the perfect cherry on top to solidify its immediate replay-ability factor. Coming straight out of Tulsa, Oklahoma The Agony Scene was formed in 2000. Inspired by bands like Zao and Overcome the band set out as a three piece, but soon added a fourth member to round out the band. The band released three albums, beginning with their self-titled album in 2003 on Solid State Records. The majority of bands on the Solid State label were Christian bands; However, The Agony Scene in a later interview explained they were not a Christian band. followed up by ‘The Darkest Red’ on Roadrunner Records, and ‘Get Damned’ on Century Media Records om 2007. It wasn’t long after that album’s release that vocalist Mike Williams confirmed on October 8, 2008, that the band had broken up early in that year. After 8 years the band decided it was time to put The Agony Scene back together and in August of 2016 they announced plans to tour and release a new full length album. The band has now released that album titled ‘Tormentor’, as July 20, 2018 via Outerloop Records. Continue reading →

As bands think of unique ways to tease their fans with new music, BEHEMOTH has done the extra ordinary in offering the first preview of new music today. So, the Polish death metallers have a new album coming out very soon, and today, in the words of the band themselves, you have to “pledge your allegiance to BEHEMOTH by reciting a prayer to receive a gift.” Turns out the gift here is the much awaited, first contact of the snippet of a new BEHEMOTH tune from their forthcoming album. It’s simple and cool, recite the prayer and have your “gift” bestowed onto you by the unholy gods of Polish death metal.
