Angels on the Battlefield has been on my band list for a while now. I have listened to their EP countless times (you can download it FREE on Angels on the Battlefield); always finding some nuance that I had missed before or changing color based on my mood and/or situation. Three songs that I just cannot seem to wear out or get out of my head. This is definitely my kind of music! Intelligent, melodic and unique. Once I started work on the article and doing research, I was offered an interview with one of the best instrumental bands out there by their manager Alex Rodrigues and jumped at the chance. Hell yeah! Who wouldn’t like to interview someone you have so much respect for, right? I absolutely love the music, and after working with them, I am an even bigger fan than before. As a special treat, we have also been honored with the exclusive introduction of their new single “Leap of Faith” which continues their streak of fierce virtuosity. So, sit back and read what the brainchild of Angels on the Battlefield, JD McGibney has to say about his bad-ass music and listen to the new single below. Rock the f*ck out! Cheers!
New Orleans sludge masters Crowbar have announced their eleventh new LP titled ‘The Serpent Only Lies’, due out October 28, 2016. “We are so excited about our 11th studio record! The Serpent Only Lies is a powerful follow up.” says frontman and riff lord Kirk Windstein. “Eliran Kantor did a brilliant job with the artwork! Our first release, “Falling While Rising”, is Crowbar at its finest… Kirk couldn’t be more right, the artwork is amazing for the album. Crowbar always sets their standards high and manages to always over achieve, so we expect this release to take the world by storm. HEAVIER THAN EVER!!!” Continue reading →
With the October 7th release of their eighth LP, The Violent Sleep of Reason on the NuclearBlast record labellooming on the horizon, Sweden’s Meshuggah has put out a brand new lyric video for their latest single entitled “Born In Dissonance”. Dressed in doomed, EndofDays garb, this new track gives us a taste of what to expect from the widely regarded beasts of the most extreme end of the ProgressiveMetal spectrum. If this is the teaser, the whole work is sure to be among Meshuggah’s best and heaviest releases to date. Lyrics were written by drummer TomasHaake and were intended to conjure images of the Biblical apocalypse, as stated to RollingStone. It definitely has that dark, oppressive feel of getting your soul stomped to dust by the Four Horsemen of the Apocolypse or being dragged through a Giger nightmare. The new album was not, however inspired by a Giger painting, but by FranciscoGoya’s “The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters” (1799) and was rehearsed for over two months before heading to the studio assuring us that these known perfectionists have everything covered to their ear-splitting and bone-crushing signature sound. I, for one, cannot wait for The Violent Sleep of Reason. Hell, I’m not even tired any of their older releases yet!

Modern progressive death metal master minds Black Crown Initiate have been robbed tonight while in St. Louis. The band had been touring in support of their new album ‘Selves We Cannot Forgive’. It has become all too common that bands that barely scrape by are having their gear and personal items stolen by heartless thieves. Unfortunately one of the things that was stolen was their passports; The tragedy couldn’t have happened at a worse time as the band is about to head out for a European tour in 3 weeks withVolumes, Veil of Maya and Born of Osiris. In addition to the passports$5,000 in cash they had earned on their most recent tour was also stolen along with their personal computers. The band used Facebook to announce the bad news. A few months ago we were fortunate enough to see Divided We Stand at the Summer Slam Festival in Johnson City, Tennessee. The band has a unique and melodic style that is appealing to almost any ear. The beautiful melodic vocals by singer Joseph Turner is surrounded by amazing musicians playing their instruments with the greatest precision. The Knoxville based band has just released a music video for their song “New Era”. The song is the newest release by the band who last released ‘Civil Unrest’ back in 2011. The song could certainly standalone without any visualization, but the video makes it all that much more appealing. Both in the video and in a live setting you can see and feel the passion the band has for their music. You will often see a smile on their face. They not only make great music but they have some of the best on stage chemistry you will ever see. The video was made possible by Spider Studios and Post Retro Productions who put together an amazing quality music video that has great cinematography and keeps viewer’s attention. Enjoy the video and make sure to follow Divided We Stand online so you won’t miss anything this up and coming band has going on. Continue reading →
One of my favorite death core bands, Fit For An Autopsy, have a split album coming out tomorrow, August 12. In anticipation of this release, they have graced us with one of the two tracks that they have recorded for the split “The Depression Sessions“, which also features tracks by The Acacia Strain and Thy Art Is Murder.
It’s a pretty killer track and sits strongly alongside the tracks already released by TAS and TAIM. If you like it, make sure to snag a copy HERE.

Bay Area thrashers The King Must Die have released a new video for the track “These Later Years”. The clip for “These Later Years” is a nostalgic look back at The King Must Die’s first five years together, as well as a look back into the long-time connections between the band members who have been in and out of bands together since the late-80’s; all this, combined with an intense performance in their “home-base” rehearsal studio. The band are able to set their self apart from the competition and succeed in one of metals most beloved genres. The King Must Die is a thrash metal band formed in 2011 and operating out of the San Francisco Bay Area. All five members of TKMD came of age at the height of the Bay Area thrash scene and those influences are evident in their aggressive, riff-driven, uptempo music. 2016 saw the release of their new record, ‘Murder All Doubt’ which picks up where their 2014 debut, ‘Sleep Can’t Hide the Fear’, left off and shows a continued evolution of TKMD’s signature sound. If you love their sound as much as we do make sure to pick up the album here.
Ted Nugent is one of rock-n-roll’s greatest guitar players. But that isn’t his only talent. When he isn’t holding a gun or bow he is cranking out amazing riffs on a 6 string. Ted Nugent holds a special place in the hearts of any rock n roll fan. The outspoken rocker is about to embark on a nationwide tour, in support of his most recent album ‘Shutup & Jam’ (2014). The album is his first studio album since 2007’s Love Grenade. If you haven’t had a chance to hear the song “She’s Gone” which features the Red Rocker Sammy Hagar I suggest you go check that out now. The Sonic Baptizm Tour kicks off July 1st in Phoenix, Arizona and runs until September 3rd in Muskogee, Oklahoma. If you are itching to meet the Motor City Mad Man you can pick up the Dangerous Zone VIP Experience here. It includes a backstage meet and greet, a VIP laminate, a photo of Ted for him to autograph, and the chance to take a picture with the man himself (with your own phone/camera). Uncle Ted continues to put his personal stamp on good ole American Rock with an extra dose of freedom. While some may recall one of Ted’s biggest hits “Cat Scratch Fever” he has many more hits to draw out of his holster. With his backing band of road worthy veterans he is making several stops across the country and giving some attention to smaller markets and cities that crave live music. One of the smallest cities on the tour is Pikeville, Kentucky on August 19th. The East Kentucky Expo Center will have Ted Nugent along with opening band Grimsley Rose. Tickets for that show available here. Stay tuned as we will have coverage of that show. The last day of the tour in Muskogee, Oklahoma will mark Ted’s 6,570th live show. It isn’t everyday you get a chance to see Ted Nugent live and in the flesh, don’t miss this opportunity. Continue reading →
