SKELETONWITCH Presents Catchy And Riff Filled New Track, “Fen Of Shadows”!

Hark all ye thrashers! The boys from SKELETONWITCH are back, and have put out a brand new song, “Fen Of Shadows” from their all new, upcoming sixth studio full length, ‘Devouring Radiant Light‘. The brand new album will be out by July 20th, via Prosthetic Records this summer. So be prepared for a fast, technical and murky summer, all thanks to our boys from Athens, Ohio.

Fen Of Shadows” is SKELETONWITCH at it’s best and a true embodiment of what their music feels and holds. It can’t get any better than this. The riffs are catchy, thrash to it’s core, with lots of subtle black metal vibe. And at the same time, it is diverse and has a lot of other exciting stuff going on with it. The song has a brooding and post-metal sort of aura, where it takes you by your neck, but it’s a good feeling, like the one you feel when you walk amidst a misty, cold, dark and windy forest at the dawning of dusk. The tremolo induced shrills and wails will give you the goosebumps that is so inevitable on this track. Vocals are ear piercing and a total blistering force to reckon with, a force equally as fatal as the lightning fast riffing and terror inducing, relentless drumming. Continue reading

HOGAN’S GOAT New Music Video, “Shit Kicker” Truly Gets The Shit Out Of Your Way!

HOGAN’S GOAT from Nashville have a brand new music video out for their track “Shit Kicker“.

We went out to Montana, fucked around, and summoned the spirit of the ‘Shit Kicker.’

No but seriously, from the moment we wrote it, we knew “Shit Kicker” would be the best representation of our style. A song about true grit, unwavering courage, and standing your ground. Our goal was to symbolically showcase the Shit Kicker that lives in all of us; no matter who you are, or where you’re from.

We want to give a special thanks to Walter and Cassie Runsabove, who sat down with us after filming, and gave us a lesson on Native American culture over breakfast. We would also like to thank Curley, Ed Fick, and there rest of the Billings Road Dogs for letting us crash their toy drive, film part of ‘Shit Kicker,’ and play a few songs for them. That wouldn’t have been possible without the help of Montana Mobile Stage and Productions, too! Thanks, Charlie!” – John Salmon (Vocals)

Max Cavalera Describes Upcoming SOULFLY Album as “Tribal Death Thrash”

As a member of one of the pioneering bands in the death/thrash scene of the 80’s and 90’s, Brazilian-born, Max Cavalera was the original vocalist and rhythm guitarist in Sepultura from 1984 to 1996; his brother Igor was the original drummer. Throughout Max’s tenure with Sepultura, he would act as one of the predominant creative forces for pushing the band’s musical style to experimental new territories. Their 1993 release, ‘Chaos A.D.,’ with its groundbreaking industrial/tribal sound, is considered by many to be one of the greatest metal albums of all time. As an industrial metal side project, Cavalera recorded another groundbreaking album, ‘Point Blank’ under the monicker, Nailbomb with Alex Newport of Fudge Tunnel in 1994. Sepultura’s ‘Roots’ LP, released two years later, would further expand upon tribal elements as well as incorporate nu-metal influences that would contribute to creative differences within the group and ultimately to Cavalera’s departure from the band. His leaving would create a rift between the Cavalera brothers as Igor remained on as drummer for Sepultura. Max would then go on to form the tribal/nu-metal outfit, Soulfly in 1997 and has since released ten albums with the band, and one in the works for 2018. In 2007, Max and his brother Igor reconciled and formed the groove/thrash band Cavalera Conspiracy together, along with guitarist, Marc Rizzo of Soulfly. The band has released four albums to date. As part of another side project, Cavalera co-founded the metal supergroup, Killer Be Killed in 2011 along with Greg Puciatio of The Dillinger Escape Plan. The band released their self-titled LP in 2014. Continue reading

Brian “Head” Welch (KORN) “I Think I’m Traumatized From Trying To Keep Family Together.”

Bakersfield native and original Korn guitarist, Brian “Head” Welch is an artist who has undoubtedly battled his fair share of demons. In 2005, his demons, who took shape in the form of overwhelming drug addiction and discontent with road life, caused him to leave the band in search of a savior. He wouldn’t know it yet, but this would be the first step in his recovery before he began looking for a suitable rehab center in California. Realizing that he has a problem with drugs and doing something about it, is something that some people may never come to terms with. Acknowledgment can be really difficult. In fact, some families become so worried about their loved one’s addiction, that they make the decision to step in. Whether that’s through removing them from the situation or looking into services like this “drug testing near you in Durham NC“, both options could help the person realize that they need to change their lifestyle so that it doesn’t have fatal consequences. By quitting the band to search for a saviour, this is the best thing that Welch could have done. He took refuge in religion, became baptized, and devoted himself to Jesus Christ. Part of his decision for his abrupt change in life course was to protect his young daughter from the decadent rockstar lifestyle he was part of. During his departure from Korn, Welch focused on other creative outlets including a solo album, ‘Save Me from Myself’ in 2008, and multiple biographical books chronicling his life experiences. In 2012, he re-branded his solo project as Love and Death, under which name he has released an EP the same year entitled ‘Chemicals EP’ and an LP in 2013 called ‘Between Here & Lost.’ In May of 2013, a clean and sober Welch rejoined his former bandmates in Korn and has recorded two albums with the band since his return – ‘Paradigm Shift’ (2013) and ‘The Serenity of Suffering’ (2016).
