We always look forward to festival season, but we have been anticipating the Doomed & Stoned Fest as much as any other. They also are keeping the festival season running late into the year by booking the show in November. As we get closer and closer to that date circled on our calendar we get more anxious. Luckily we had the opportunity to speak with Executive Editor and Festival coordinator Melissa Collins and talked about some of the festivals logistics, bands, and everything else going on in Indy that weekend.
After taking the stage at Louisville, Kentucky’s LOUDER THAN LIFE festival members of I PREVAIL sat down with me and talked about their new gold record for their cover of “Blank Space” and if they think Taylor Swift is a closet I PREVAIL fan. So far their upcoming album ‘Life Lines‘ has 3 singles out and a couple more videos to come that the guys talk briefly about. The album ‘Lifelines‘ is due out October 21st via Fearless Records, you can pre-order the album here, and the guys will tell you exactly why you should pick it up…
Make sure to follow I Prevail online and check out their 3 new singles from the upcoming album.
We had the opportunity to speak with Clutch guitarist Tim Sult on October 2nd during their tour stop at the Louder Than Life Festival in Louisville, Kentucky. Clutch has now been together and kicking ass for over 25 years. They continue to put out one great album after another and keep fans craving more. Music industry veterans have referred to Clutch as one of the hardest working bands in the business. We spoke to Tim about the bands chemistry for success, opening up for Clutch as the instrumental band The Bakerton Group, their selection process and past producers and even briefly spoke about corn dogs. The band is touring in support of their most recent release “Psychic Warfare” and if you haven’t picked up the album I suggest you do so now! Continue reading →
A few weeks back I chose Eternal Voyager as my State of the Art: Minnesota spotlight band. Killer, old school HeavyPower Metal band that has a very long history in the music business. I was contacted by Online Metal Promo and was offered an interview with founder/vocalist/guitarist Brian Blake. So, without further ado, here is what this Metal Master has to say…
We have been keeping you informed about everything associated with THE WATCHERS since we first heard about their formation. Vocalist Tim Narducci has long been a favorite musician of mine and I’ve followed and loved every band he has been a part of. The band has had a fast paced upstart. Since they began less than 6 months ago the band has formed, recorded their EP, released a video, signed to the amazing label Ripple Music, and booked their first west coast tour. We were lucky enough to speak with Tim about THE WATCHERS and his experience as a musician. Continue reading →
After recently reviewing HelionPrime here on MN, I was contacted by OnlineMetalPromo asking if I would like an interview with founding member, guitarist and songwriter JasonAshcraft. Um, letmethinkaboutit…Nothankyou. Yeah right! HelionPrime has rapidly gained a spot in just about all of my playlists, of course I want to pick Jason’s brain. Who wouldn’t, right?!? Damn, I love my job here! If you are not familiar with Helion Prime, do yourself a favor and check out Helion Prime and listen to their hard science based PowerMetal. When you are up to speed, please read on… (I’ll wait).
Poltergeist was formed in 1988 and released three Thrash albums that remain cult classics to this day: Depression (1989), BehindMyMask (1989) and NothingLastsForever (1993). After over 20 years, Poltergeist has returned and are set to unleash their much anticipated BacktoHaunt due out October 21, 2016 on the PureSteelRecord label! We here at MN have the pre-release and it is a serious kick in the ass! While Dragon staked quick claim on the album review (soon to be published) I got the true honor of an interview with this legendary master of old school Thrash! Freakin’ stoked about this one!
Crimson Croft was formed in Glasgow, Kentucky in December of 2014. Founding member Eric Croft is no new comer to music. His various music projects makes him a veteran musician. Crimson Croft is comprised of vocalist Eric Croft & drummer Nick Gabow of Circled In Black. The band formed when Circled In Black went on a long & still lasting hiatus due to issues of extensive travel between band members. The band performs in a two piece & sometimes three piece set with bass player Ricky Hodge. They have released material on various online mediums such as Bandcamp, Reverbnation, YouTube, and Soundcloud. They have graced stages at various venues around Bowling Green, Ky, Louisville, Ky & Nashville, Tn. They often perform with various other acts such as Chest Rockwell, Heron & Crane, The Creatures and All Deeds Done. Eric is a master when it comes to lyrics and has played in bands since his teens, and his romance with words came long before that. His way with words allows his darkest revelations to escape his soul and into our ears. We were lucky enough to speak with Eric about his music, influence and some other tid bits of information. Angels on the Battlefield has been on my band list for a while now. I have listened to their EP countless times (you can download it FREE on Angels on the Battlefield); always finding some nuance that I had missed before or changing color based on my mood and/or situation. Three songs that I just cannot seem to wear out or get out of my head. This is definitely my kind of music! Intelligent, melodic and unique. Once I started work on the article and doing research, I was offered an interview with one of the best instrumental bands out there by their manager Alex Rodrigues and jumped at the chance. Hell yeah! Who wouldn’t like to interview someone you have so much respect for, right? I absolutely love the music, and after working with them, I am an even bigger fan than before. As a special treat, we have also been honored with the exclusive introduction of their new single “Leap of Faith” which continues their streak of fierce virtuosity. So, sit back and read what the brainchild of Angels on the Battlefield, JD McGibney has to say about his bad-ass music and listen to the new single below. Rock the f*ck out! Cheers!
The Ohio based band Woe Of Tyrants have been on an extended hiatus. Their last album was released over 6 years ago, but what they done in the past has left a lasting impression on anyone who has heard their music. The band released their first album ‘Behold The Lion’ in 2007 and quickly garnered the attention of Metal Blade Records. Their next release ‘Kingdom of Might’ would be their Metal Blade debut in 2009. That album has long been a prime example of what most bands set forth to do and fail. The album is one of the best metal album put out in the last decade. The song “Break the Fangs of the Wicked” is the definitive metal song that jams everything your ears crave in less than 5 minutes. If you are unfamiliar with the band please use that song as your welcome package, because once you hear it you’ll be a fan. Once that album released it was getting worldwide attention and the band was hand selected to join Overkill’s 25th Anniversary Tour along side Vader, God Dethroned, Warbringer, Evile and of course the might Overkill. The band has found a way to meld thrash, and death metal in flawless fashion. Their 3rd release ‘Threnody’ (2010) is their last release as of now. The band however isn’t finished. The band has recently started up the engine of Woe and is in the process of creating new music. The creatively talented group couldn’t keep their hands idle any longer. They recently announced they are back together, practicing and plan to release new music in the not so far away future. We got the opportunity to speak with vocalist Chris Catanzaro and find out what’s going on with the untamed beast that is WOE OF TYRANTS! Continue reading →
