MONSTER MAGNET To Release Re-Issues of ‘Tab’ and ‘Spine Of God’ via Napalm Records

1989 marks the year of birth of New Jersey’s spacerock legends Monster Magnet. Three years after their first EP on Glitterhouse, the band released their official debut album ‘Spine Of God’ on Caroline Records, which became a full on genre classic literally in an instant. The original debut album ‘Tab’ was recorded a year earlier then ‘Spine Of God’ but only saw the light of day because of the overwhelming success of its actual successor. The drug hazed heavy sound of both releases helped in cementing Monster Magnet‘s reputation of being the only legit descendants of the likes of psychedelic and stoner rock Godfathers Hawkwind, Black Sabbath, and their electrifying punk siblings in MC5. MOONSPELL Announce New Album ‘1755’

Metal has always been deeply rooted in history, in terms of content – wars, natural disasters, murder, it’s all there.  But when you take a historical event, line it with poetic melody, and make it the concept for an album, you’ll definitely draw the right kind of attention.  That’s exactly what Portuguese goths, Moonspell, have done on their newly-announced 2017 release ‘1755’, which drops November 3 courtesy of Napalm Records.  The album tells the story of the devastating earthquake that decimated the band’s hometown of Lisbon in 1755, and is entirely in Portuguese! State Of The Art: BLOODY HAMMERS

*This is part of our State Of The Art series, showcasing bands every Monday from the featured state.*

This month’s state is North Carolina!

Hailing from Transylvania County, North Carolina, Bloody Hammers span a variety of genres from gothic rock to psychedelic doom metal.  Anders Manga, the band’s founder/singer/producer/instrumentalist, formed the band in 2012 and released the self-titled album, ‘Bloody Hammers’ that same year.  Although the band has a revolving lineup of touring members, Manga and his wife, Devallia (also the band’s pianist/organist) are the only permanent touring members.  However, this hasn’t stopped them from releasing a string of great albums since their genesis, such as 2013’s ‘Spiritual Relics’, 2014’s ‘Under Satan’s Sun’, 2016’s ‘Lovely Sort of Death’, and the upcoming 2017 release ‘The Horrific Case of Bloody Hammers’, set to hit stores July 14. Review: CKY Rise From The Ashes With ‘The Phoenix’

It seems CKY have a knack for delivering raw, authentic material with every release.  Since the early days of their skate-punk upbringing, they have continued to improve and impress with their upcoming album ‘The Phoenix’, set for release June 16, being no exception. CKY have gained quite a bit of notoriety with musical contributions to the CKY video series, as well as the TV show Jackass, launching their musical ventures to new heights.  They’ve grown to be known for their groove-ridden, octave-driven sound that any CKY (or Jackass) fan will immediately recognize.  Continue reading
