The running theme so far for this year’s upcoming summer festivals is that May is going to be the loudest month of the year, and with some really unbelievable lineups that statement is sure to be true.  However, the loudest month of the year wouldn’t be complete without giving the hardcore kids something to move to!  Well fear not, ladies and gentlemen, and prepare to throw down with Turnstile at Rock on the Range and Carolina Rebellion!  With a fresh album release, ‘Time & Space’, these guys are primed to destroy the stage and throw one up for the hardcore scene. World’s Loudest Month Spotlight: TYLER BRYANT & THE SHAKEDOWN

*This is part of the “World’s Loudest Month” segment where we branch out and focus on bands that fans can see at the year’s biggest music festivals during the month of May 2018!  This week, we introduce Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown, a blues-rock quartet from “Music City” Nashville, TN who will be seeing a lot of stage time this Summer at Rock on the Range, Rockville, and more!*

I’m a firm believer that no matter your music preference, whether it be metal, rap, pop, or techno, everyone loves the blues in some form or another.  It’s also my belief that this, paired with the know-how and musical ability to create incredible music compositions, has played a major role in the rising success of Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown.  The band is the epitome of soulful, genuine songs of rhythmic blues-infused rock and roll and have proven themselves so much as to be privileged enough to share the stage with music giants like ZZ Top, Eric Clapton, AC/DC, and Guns N’ Roses Continue reading

The Bucketlist with Phil Freeman of SMALL TOWN TITANS

*In this series we pose the age-old question to a wide array of music lovers. As fans of music, most of us keep a mental list of active bands we want to see live that we haven’t yet seen. The Bucketlist brings to you those lists of your favorite artists and why those bands mean so much to them*

The Small Town Titans are a power trio from York, PA who love to constantly create, as well as play live.  Gone is the notion that a rock band should only release 10 songs at a time every 2 years.  In a world where music fans crave new content constantly, the Small Town Titans aim to deliver their brand of art all the time, drawing inspiration from a new wave of rock bands such as Royal Blood to rock legends such as the Foo Fighters, Audioslave, and Deep Purple.  Thanks to their efforts at assembling their own studio in a basement, STT can create and release songs, podcasts, live online concerts, and more with no rules. Today’s Artist is Shaman’s Harvest

Alright, folks, this is it!  The official introduction to everyone’s favorite time of year – FESTIVAL SEASON!  This Summer is already shaping up to be one of the heaviest, loudest, and most memorable one yet with several music festivals across the country; most of them packing some quite unbelievable, once-in-a-lifetime lineups!  As some of you may remember, last year we released festival spotlight segments each week to familiarize everyone with the bands they’ll see at those festivals.  Well, this time around, we’ll be focusing on two festivals taking place in the same month in particular.  Deemed the “World’s Loudest Month”, May 2018 will host Carolina Rebellion at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, NC May 4th-6th, and Rock On The Range in Columbus, OH on May 18th,19th, and 20th; both festivals courtesy of the always-pleasing Danny Wimmer Presents and AEG Presents.  We will be covering spotlights from both festivals in the weeks leading up to each, and to kick us off the right way this week, we’re looking at Shaman’s Harvest! State Of The Art: ARSON CITY

*This is a part of our State Of The Art series, showcasing bands every Monday from the featured state.*

This month’s state is Nebraska!

With each State of the Art segment, we explore bands from cities all over the country, but what happens when a band and city are one in the same? Not sure what I mean?  Omaha, Nebraska’s Arson City fit that description well with an elaborate vision of each member portraying a fictional city’s select citizens: The Mayor (Patrick Michael Wilson) taking care of vocals, The Doctor (Mark Beckenhauer) on rhythm guitar, The Enforcer (Matt Denker) on drums, The Dealer (Matt Dibaise) on lead guitar, and The Con (Matt Oliver) on bass.  Arson City was constructed in mid-2013 when members of several local bands around the Omaha area came together for a collaboration that eventually became the giant it is today. REVIEW: OF MICE & MEN – ‘Defy’

2018 has already been a great year for music for the most part as far as new releases, new tour announcements, and new band updates go.  So far this year, we’ve been graced with several brand new kick-ass albums and several more on the way with one of those being the new release from metalcore giants Of Mice & Men, ‘Defy’.  The brand new album, set for release this Friday, January 19, is the band’s first album since the recent departure of former frontman, Austin Carlile, who left the band in late 2016 to focus on recovery from a long-term illness.  Stepping up to take over vocals, bassist Aaron Pauley utilizes ‘Defy’ to showcase just how qualified he is for his new position in the band. KIRRA Announces 2018 Tour With NOTHING MORE, THE CONTORTIONIST, & BIG STORY

Oklahoma City-based rock band Kirra joins Nothing More on 2018 North American tour. The tour kicks off on February 3, starting in Little Rock, Arkansas, and finishes on March 3, ending on the West Coast in Sacramento, California.

Kirra tours in support of their debut album, ‘Run Away’ (2016), the remastered version of their single, “Downfall” (2017), and their latest single, “My Disease” (2017), all available via Pavement Entertainment.  ‘Run Away’ has a little of everything in it lyrically, but more specifically makes a commentary about the music industry. “We wanted to make a statement about overproduction in the music industry today. We wanted to prove you don’t need a bunch of tricks to writing good songs,” says lead guitarist Daxton Page. “I feel ‘Run Away’ was a direct reflection of where we were musically and personally at that moment in time.” Continue reading
