AT THE GATES Debuts All New Music Video, “To Drink From The Night Itself” Off Upcoming Album

Swedish death metal flag bearers AT THE GATES recently let the news out that they will be releasing their upcoming full length album, ‘To Drink From The Night Itself‘, thus marking their comeback to fresh new music after 2014’s celebrated ‘At War With Reality‘. The all new upcoming studio effort hits the stores this May 18 via Century Media Records. That buzzsaw sound is coming back!

Produced with Russ Russell (NAPALM DEATHTHE HAUNTEDDIMMU BORGIR) at Parlour Studios in the U.K., the follow-up 2014’s “At War With Reality” will feature conceptual artwork created by Twilight 13 Media‘s Costin Chioreanu, who previously worked with AT THE GATES on the band’s previous record.

The track has some ‘Slaughter Of The Soul‘ vibe into it, which is definitely a delight to scores of death metal fans. The song “To Drink From The Night Itself” in a video-clip was directed by Patric Ullaeus/Revolver.se (IN FLAMES, ARCH ENEMY, DIMMU BORGIR) and you can see the Swedish boys belting the new tunes loud and ruthless in a warehouse. Check it down below!

AT THE GATES frontman Tomas Lindberg checked in to comment about the track as follows: “So, for the first song to present to the public, we chose the title track of the album. Which is also the opening track of the record. To us, this gives a presentation of the attitude of the album: raw, hungry and desperate. It also gives an introduction to the whole concept of the record. We live through our art, and the whole album deals with the concept of art. Art as a tool either for revolution, or suppression. To drink from the night itself is just that, a metaphor for living and breathing through art. Of course the concept goes deeper than that, but this song is the heart of the concept, the fierce call to arms so to say. We are still at war, but this time we are fighting the abyss, the abyss of apathy and oppression. It is an aggressive song, but also contains a lot of the other elements of the band´s sound on this record. Melancholia, desperation and struggle. For the first video we chose to use Patric Ullaeus again, as he is good at capturing the raw energy of the band playing live. In the video you can also see glimpses of the art used for the cover, so it binds it all together nicely. Enjoy.

About Rattlehead

Hi, Rattlehead here. I'm from India, and I'm obsessed with metal of all sub-genres but mostly into thrash and death. I also love other genres, like jazz, funk, rock, some punk, a bit of blues, some country, but well, metal is where I feel at home. I'm always on the run discovering new music. Fanboying Megadeth since I was 13. Love to talk about metal, sports and a little bit of everything here and there. I also love dissing your god, I love food, seeing metal gigs, traveling and also a metal merch and record collector. I hope you like what I write and the music I suggest you. Please do share if you like. Cheers and stay heavy \m/
